“Maybe they just need the money?” Grady answered, looking over at the paper she was holding. “Or, they just couldn’t keep it maintained anymore?” He added.
“Yeah, probably both.” She stated as she studied the newspaper. “I just can’t believe it. Sucks when there are so many changes. I kinda miss being a kid — less worry, less heartache.”

“Who’s selling what now?” Hanna asked, her attention being caught by the girl. She peered closer at the paper in her hand, trying to read whatever it was she was reading. “Oh, the ranch. Huh,” she said. “Maybe they’re planning on tearing it down for another Starbucks.”
“Probably,” she snickered, easing down from the shock of it all. She was pissed, whatever. There wasn’t a thing she could do about it. And she certainly did not want to talk to her parents. “Not a fan of Starbucks?”

“EM!” Carter grinned running over and ruffling her hair. “Where have been lately? You havent come by for a ride in forever!” But she wasnt responding like normal, so he paused. Bending to look at her face. “What? Did I do something? Look Im sorry, I think. But youll need to tell me what I did first.”
“Well, basically I got pregnant and I’m not supposed to ride.” Mia smirked, before heaving a sigh. “But I will come around to hang out when I have an afternoon or morning off. Uh—no, I can promise you you didn’t do anything, Carter.” She laughed, shaking her head. “My parents are, for some reason, selling our ranch and forgot to tell me about it. Guess I’m just.. upset and angry at them?”

“You are perfectly fine. Actually, I’ll take a grilled cheese and a side of onion rings. Please.” Samantha said this with a smile.
"Oh, good choice. You won’t regret the grilled cheese here, I promise you.” Mia said as she scooped up the menu from the bar countertop. “Anything to drink?”

“It’s not that Jackson ranch is it?”
“Uh—no, I don’t think so. That’s the one.” She stated as she held out the newspaper to her.
“I know.” She frowned, wrapping an arm around the girl’s shoulder, “Look, you could always buy the place back? I know that it’s probably on the market for a lot but, we could all raise money! Oo, we could do a bake off and raise money.– Urgh! You shouldn’t even be worrying about this stuff at the moment, if you want, you can stay round at mine.”
“Oh, uh.. actually, I’m good. I moved into an apartment not too long ago. I don’t know if you’ve heard but, my parents and I aren’t exactly talking.” She stated with a sigh, before smiling at the hospitable blonde who’d offered her nothing but support. “Thank you so much though, Kitty. It’s really nice of you. Oh, I don’t know.. it’s a lot of money. I just don’t get why they’re selling it. But I guess all good things come to an end. So tell me, get my mind off of things — how are you going?”

Lucas smiled at her and pressed the piece of cookie into her palm. He wriggled from his seat and crawled under the table to get in Dimitrie’s lap, breaking off another piece of the cookie and pressing it to his father’s lips. “For you, too, Tati,” he said, and Dimitrie smiled, eating the bit of cookie. “Thank you, baby.” He looked over at the woman. “It’s alright. Are you sure you’re okay?” Lucas smiled at the woman as she turned her attention back to him. “I’m Lucas!” he said brightly. “What’s your name?”
“Is he yours?” She asked, though it was blatantly obvious when he called him Tati. She couldn’t help but smile at how sweet he was. “Lucas, that’s a nice name. My name’s Mia. It’s nice to meet you!” She smiled as she took a bite of the cookie piece he’d given her. “And how old are you?” Looking up at the father, she nodded. “Yeah, I’m okay. Family problems. They’re uh.. selling our childhood home. I didn’t even know until I read the paper.”

Halley nodded when the woman questioned her. It was going to be fun. The two of them, getting into weird shit together. That was how things were supposed to work, right? When you’re this young, people were required to do something this stupid. Especially during Halloween time. “You’re not ready to be possessed? So in the future you’ll be ready? Come on you dork! You know damn well it would be fun. Whether a baby gets summoned or some demonic creature who tries to kill us.” Though she knew that none of those things could happen.. after all, ghosts and shit weren’t real. “Mmm.. I don’t know. Usually in the movies everyone just goes along with it. But let’s try it out and see. I’ll play with the board, and you be my audience. Watch though, you’ll be the one that gets possessed before me. Then I’ll laugh.”
“What the hell would happen to the kid inside of me? Poor thing didn’t even get a chance at life. What if it gets possessed? Where does my mind even go?” Sipping on her freshly made juice, Mia propped herself up on top of a table, smiling at the mere idea of a crazy fun night. It had been a long while since she’d let herself have a little fun. “I’m in. I know I’ll experience it whether I’m next to you or not so, let’s do it.” Narrowing her eyes, the brunette shook her head at the other, “You’re damn evil, I don’t know how you haven’t been possessed or recruited down in hell.. Unless you are? You used to be such a sweet, innocent little girl. You never know,” she teased, a smirk tugging at her lips. “Okay, so when are we doing this?”

Sara ignored the comment, pregnancy and children weren’t her favorite thing after all. “So buy it back or something.” She said, ordering herself a diet soda. “Or let them, it’s like a million years old anyway right?”
“I can’t do anything about it so yeah, I’m gonna have to let them,” she sighed, taking one last look at the picture of the ranch house before placing the newspaper aside. “You wouldn’t be sad if your parents sold yours?”

Lori had just been sitting in the cafe; cup in one hand, and her phone in the other, going through what seemed like an endless count on e-mails. She really needed to learn to check it more often than letting it all pile up. A female voice shouting from nearby pulled her attention away, and her gaze immediately shifted to the direction it originated, eyes immediately recognizing who it was. “Mia?” She questioned getting up from her seat and walking over to her friend, quickly glancing down at the newspaper that was putting the other girl in such a state. “Yeah – wait, they didn’t even tell you they were?”
It took Mia a moment or two to compose herself before bringing her gaze up to find Lori; she was surprised anyone had heard her, not having realised she’d vocalised her shock. “Hey, uh.. yeah.” Her eyes fell over the faint picture of the house in the newspaper, before looking up at Lori again.. not wanting to look at it too long. “I thought you would’ve known. We don’t talk anymore. So I’m guessing that’s probably why I don’t know.. but I thought Daniel would’ve told me.” To think her brother had kept this from her, unless he didn’t know? “It’s just—crazy. I mean, they can’t do this.. it’s our childhood home.”

“Sometimes people ain’t got enough money to keep shit going.” Cyrus responded with a shrug. “I wouldn’t worry about it too much if I were you though. Stressing yourself out ain’t good for the baby.” He said, giving his two cents. “However, if you really have a problem with ‘em selling it…You could always try to buy it yourself?”
“For some reason, I don’t think that’s the problem.” Well, what would she know? They didn’t even talk. But wouldn’t her brother tell her? “I know,” she stated as a hand fell to her stomach, taking in a small but deep enough breath to try and calm her nerves. “I wish I could, I just.. don’t really have the funds for it unfortunately. I just can’t believe they’re selling our childhood home, you know?”

Lucas and Dimitrie were sitting at a table nearby, sharing a cookie and Dimitrie had a cup of coffee. They looked over as the woman spoke, and Lucas noted her upset demeanor with a frown. Lucas broke off a piece of their cookie and offered to her. “You okay?” he asked. “Cookie?” Dimitrie frowned, too. “Can I get you some water?” he asked. “Now isn’t the best time for you to be so upset.”
Emilia was suddenly distracted by the voice of a little boy beside her, one that surely melted her heart and, if only for a moment, took her mind off of things. “Yes please, thank you,” she smiled warmly, holding her hand out to the little boy with a face she just couldn’t say no to. Mia then looked over at the man sitting across from him and smiled gently. “I’m okay,” she held up the glass of water before her. “I’m so sorry, totally didn’t realise I was speaking out loud.” Looking back at the little boy she presumed was his son, “What’s your name?”
Kitty had been one of the first people to read the news of The Williams family ranch and, the news hit home. What did this mean? Where they going to move? Would they no longer be seen as a founding family? Shaking her head, the blonde walked over to Emilia, “I see you’ve read the news.” She sighs, gesturing towards the newspaper, “Are you okay?”
The heart palpitations in her chest certainly weren’t helping as liquid welled up in her eyes; her ability to contain her feelings were proving impossible since falling pregnant. “Yeah, I just.. I can’t believe it, you know? I don’t know.. maybe I’m being emotional but they didn’t even tell me. I grew up there—you think I’d deserve to know, right? You even know how much I loved that place.”

“What ranch?” Andy asked, fingers clasping her mug of coffee at the diner with her son gobbling up some pancakes beside her.
“Oh, uh..” Emilia hadn’t realised she’d been speaking aloud, let alone that others could hear her. The shock had overwhelmed her, and as her eyes fell on the young mother and her son, she felt compelled to answer. “My parents are selling the ranch we have out here.. the ranch I grew up on, practically.”

“What are you complaining about now? Yikes… you’re getting fat.” Sara sighed as she fell into the booth opposite Emilia; she didn’t know the girl very well, but she had definitely watched the girl grow up along side her. Founding Family events and all.
“That’s what usually happens when you fall pregnant?” Mia retorted at the brunette she knew all too well, before her expression fell entirely into shock once more. “My parents are selling our ranch.”
