just realized that the reason rocky jump-scares grace the first time they meet is because he can see him the entire time and probably instinctively assumes that the same goes for grace. the tunnel isn't dark for eridians, their concept of "darkness" is completely different from ours.

Rocky is just baffled by Human Sounds. And not words, either. Heartbeat he gets, obviously, and respiration. He's able to comprehend digestion once Grace explains it (Eridians have a much more efficient mode of nutrient absorption). But, like, snoring? Totally foreign. Passing gas/belching? Incomprehensible. Sneezing and coughing have him slightly worried and vomiting causes a full-on freakout.

Grace has a warped self-perception. He insists he's not a "people person" but gets along with majority of the crew, is a literal middle school teacher who the kids love

he's so sassy bro. "I seem friendly only bcuz I stood next to Stratt"

also establishes why so many ppl thought Grace was second-in-command, like he's usually always standing next to Stratt

Amazing how the difference between having fancy culinary little treats and eating unhinged goblin bullshit is just having nice ingredients at hand.
