A thing I’ve noticed a lot lately is how normalized it’s become for women to fetishize mlm relationships. With every mainstream media that portrays a gay relationship between two men, there’s always a vast amount of female audience who will sexualize their relationship to the fullest, and it doesn’t even bother them that the two may be minors either. Now fetishization of a gay relationship is absolutely disgusting by any gender, but the very popularized obsession of women being the demographic for the given media is just so concerning. Whenever you mention the fact that “it is weird for a man to be indulged in a lesbian relationship”, everybody tends to agree. However, when you switch the roles to say that “it is weird for a woman to be indulged in a gay relationship”, people brush it off as nothing and call you too sensitive about it. It’s disturbing how terms like “fujoshi” have become a silly title to put on yourself then proceed to go fetishize male couples on the internet. What people don’t understand about this, is how harmful this behavior is, be it simply constant consumption of bl/yaoi material or actual extent to sexualize real individuals. Constant unhealthy immersion in gay media, which already for most part may be portrayed in a harmful way (such as some manhwas, books, etc), is a door to a false perspective filled with stereotypes and misinformation. That easily carries on the delusional perception of mlm relationships in real life or oriented influence on perceiving other lgbtq media. “It’s just fiction, stop caring about it so much!”, that’s the point that I’m making, if you are comfortable fetishizing a laid out dynamic of two men in a relationship, it doesn’t take more effort for you to fetishize one that isn’t banded by clear cut aspects. Women pls stop heavily indulging and pushing your way into achillean spaces, be normal. Try not to fetishize two male minors in a relationship challenge go!

Another addition to this, I hate so much how there can be such a beautifully crafted relationship between two men with a history of struggle, love, hardship, and overall prosperity, then it’s reduced to nothing but shambles of sexualized smut. Just completely throwing away every part that makes that relationship THEIRS, parts that make them the people they are, purely to glorify sex. That’s not to mention that to add on to their fantasies, the people consuming those medias fully erase the characters to conform to their standard of stereotypes, again, just to sexualize them in the end and make crystal gooner material.

Cough cough, personal example: Till from ALNST always being regarded as a docile and helpless twink that requires saving. Not only does that most literally compress the entirety of a character into a false narrative, but it genuinely doesn’t even make sense in the first place for him to be recognized as such. SPOILERS AHEAD: Not to disregard the absolute hell the whole cast of ALNST went through, but this guy arguably went through one of the hardest times. Till was torn from his mom as a child into the human trafficking space led by aliens, meaning he had to adapt to the environment void of any humanitarian aspects he grew used to. Unlike others, that as far as we know, were already predisposed to lack of human interlinkage, not only did they not have to adjust to the brand new setting but also did not have to mourn the loss of a loved one, especially a mother. After that, continually being abused by aliens in numerous ways due to his “rebellious” behavior, which is canonically based that he is maltreated the most. Without even mentioning everything inbetween, if we jump straight to the actual performances, he witnessed all of his “family” that he grew up with, die in front of him. That includes the man he loved — Ivan, who sacrificed himself for Till, die right before him without having the chance to ever confess his love back and not a glimpse of time to love him. Even after, he had to battle with survivor’s guilt, holding on to the memory of his dead love everyday while simultaneously drowning in his hatred. Still in the end, he decides to do good in the world and fight for those who can’t for themselves, to save others (whose lives are nothing but a genetic benefit for aliens) because he couldn’t save his own family. On top of it, Mizi — his “light of hope”, an idealization of faith has vanished, so now everything he has to himself is a wish to reconcile and embrace the love he has for his dead family. This goes without mentioning all of the details and other things that completely crumble the stereotype people set for Till. Please actually take the character for who he is instead of reducing him to a hot steaming pile of shit that is a role of “submissive twink”.
