that night at the washington had never left emily’s mind, not once had she had a peaceful night that wasn’t plagued with those things, her falling from the shaft to what she had feared would be her death, but wasn’t, or the images of the terrifying, hideous creatures (which she now knew to be wendigos) that had chased her for what felt like forever until the guy with the flamethrower had come to her rescue. she tried not to think about any of it too much, or bring it up at all; she knew that the others; Jess especially, had been traumatized far worse by the wendigos, and Chris and Ashley had suffered the torture of a deranged Josh; she got off easy, all things considered, and figured her time there wouldn’t have been so troubling if it hadn’t been for the bite. Of all of the things that were life threatening on that mountain, the closest she had come to death was when Mike was holding a gun to her head, threatening to shoot. she had thought over it, and a part of her understood why. besides, ashley had brought it up; emily would never have been foolish enough to imagine a wendigo bite would turn you into a wendigo; she wasn’t an idiot; she knew wendigos had to eat flesh to be cursed and turned. the disturbing thoughts flew trough her mind when she spotted none other than michael munroe opposite the street. with nothing to fear, she made her way over with a confident stride. “hey.” she responded cooly. that was all he had to say? oh i’m good, perfect. just enjoying my time in london, but i’m still hella confused why i’m even here.”
“i didn’t mean in general, emily...” he was referring to that night, though he figured her not even thinking about it suggested she wanted to forget about it or it wasn’t on her mind anymore. mike assumed it was the former. he knew that girl better than he cared to admit. “i think we all are.” a pause. “jess is here too.. so her and i are confused.” it wasn’t exactly like a huge group of them.. but now he knew that emily, jessica and himself were all in london. and for all he knew, there could be more of them scattered around and they hadn’t bumped into each other. maybe this nightmare was starting all over again --- though he had bumped into a few people who didn’t know what was going on either. letting out a small exhale, mike glanced down at his feet. “it’s nice to see you though.. really.” things had been hard for them all and he didn’t want to downplay what emily went through as if it was nothing. “and i’m glad you’re... perfect.”
the nightmares never ended and he knew what had happened in the past would haunt him for the rest of his life. people he called friends and the other seven people who were with him that night were all people he had been actively avoiding (some more than others). he was just thankful that his parents were keeping him shielded away from the public and those who were inquisitive about the event. mike had played that hero role without even realising it, but he was still more concerned with the other girls and guys in his group who had went through much worse in michael’s books. he assumed being in london was fine --- he had ran into jessica (which was perfect in his books) and he hadn’t really imagined bumping into anyone else whilst he was in the foreign country. that was until he laid eyes on emily. his ex-girlfriend, someone he had held high in his ranks and the girl he had also held a gun up to at one point during that hysterical and horrifying night. mike had all intentions of avoiding her, though seeing as she was walking straight towards him, he knew he had no choice but to greet her and snap her out of her daze. “em? hey..” he whispered nervously, scratching at his eyebrow. “you’re here too??” there would always be a part of him that cared for the girl in front of him, he demonstrated that through the TWO hugs they shared that night; something he knew jess wouldn’t be happy to hear. but the blonde had to know that he would always harbour something for the brunette. a part of him was telling him this conversation wasn’t going to go down smoothly. “how... how are you??”

jess rolled her eyes. even after all this time, mike was still annoying as fuck. but she still loved it, no matter how much she chose to deny it. “shut up,” she grumbled in response. honestly jess had never heard of fish and chips. like were the chips actually chips or were they fries? some people said chips were crisps and fries were chips and that always got on her nerves. why the hell can’t america and the uk come up with universal names for things? “i mean i’ve never had fish and chips. and i’m assuming the chips are fries but we could you know…get that as an appetizer and then…do something else?” she suggested.
“shh, you love it.” he replied in response to her grumble, toying with her hair as they walked. he was already falling back into the groove of things with jess, glad that even though they were in a different place, they could still be themselves. that was the part making him happy. “yeah.. they’re like fat fries. i think? i saw someone eating it earlier.” mike shrugged, smiling. “i think i need to be more cultured in other countries for when i become this big political superstar, y’know?” glancing around, he pointed towards the first place he saw, slowly moving towards it. he was just trying to get her opinion on it, his hesitance all routed in the fact he was waiting on a comment from jessica about the appearance of the place.
snowbvllqueen:
the blonde actually found herself giggling. mike brought out the best in her. “i’ll never forget it. if you hadn’t come, i might’ve died. i almost died in the mines anyway if it weren’t for matt.” talking about it again wasn’t easy for jess. no matter how much her therapist told her otherwise. god, it felt so nice to be with mike again. and she’d repeat it for as long as she needed to. at the prospect of getting something to eat, her eyebrow arched. “michael munroe, is this your subtle way of asking me on a date?” she asked incredulously. she stood on her toes to plant a kiss on his cheek. “if so, i happily accept. what are you in the mood for?”
“uh.. yeah.” it wasn’t his way of asking her out --- but he knew she was just fucking with him. “i’m in the mood for yooou.” mike teased, shaking his head as if he was joking before his arm gently rested around her shoulders. having her next to him was making him beyond happy, he was almost positive that his smile wasn’t going to leave his face. “england is notorious for fish and.. chips.. right?? maybe we should do that.” it meant they could just sit about for like ten minutes. “unless you want to sit down and eat an actual meal... an actual date.”
masterxjaina:
“no. we don’t have any londons in my galaxy.”
“galaxy?”
nowbvllqueen:
jess exhaled shakily. she didn’t expect herself to get emotional. it was so hard for her to even try and get over that night. therapy sessions helped but every time she tried to forget things she’d wake up with terrible nightmares. “mike,” she repeated his name for what felt like the thousandth time, even if it might’ve been only the second. “you came for m e. how can i ever repay you for that?” she felt like she’s said that a thousand times before once again, but all she cared about right now that she was with mike. the much shorter blonde found herself staring into his eyes, cheeks heating up ever so slightly. after all this time he still made her feel like a million bucks. “i’m just…so emotional and happy to see you now.”
if any of them went through HELL the most, it was jess. she was there by herself for the majority of it, probably scared out of her wits. he was just beyond thankful that she had passed out and was safe. jessica riley was strong though. and this just proved it. “you don’t ever have to repay it.. i was just doing the right thing.” he was looking at her as if that was an insane thing to say, partially amused that she thought that. “you think i was letting go off my girl that quickly? nah. i’d go to the end of the earth for you, jess.” it wasn’t something to doubt considering he was scared out of his wits when he chased after her. placing a small kiss against her forehead, mike let out a happy exhale. he didn’t care that they were embracing on the street, it was the least of his worries. “i’m here so no getting emotional.. please.” a pause. “you hungry??”
masterxjaina:
“not when i’ve never heard of this place, no.”
“you’ve never heard of london??”
snowbvllqueen:
jess was supposed to be dead. or was she? that cold winter night forever haunted her dreams. and she didn’t really know that what was real or fake. she did know that in london, she was alive and well. nothing could hurt her after everything that happened in the mines, oh god–the mines. the fact that a BEAST took her away. whatever the hell it was, it dragged her through the snow and down into the dark depths near washington lodge. but mike, mike came for her. he couldn’t stop the elevator from plummeting her fifty feet down but he cared enough to go after her. seeing him brought immense relief. “mike…” she breathed out, finally registering that she was in his arms. there was no monster to drag her away. “oh my fucking god, i don’t know…i’m just as clueless as everyone i’ve spoken to. but you’re here. that makes things a thousand times better.” she forced herself to smile even if it hurt her. she missed the days she could smile without a care. “have you seen anyone else? if we’re here, maybe the rest of our friends have shown up too.“
the 6′2′’ male was just clinging to her, tugging at her clothes in effort to get her closer even though that was basically impossible. “i’m here.” michael whispered in response, pulling away from the embrace. there was no doubt in his mind that he had to chase after jessica when everything went down, he wasn’t going to leave her. did he give up on her in the end? yeah. he thought she was dead. that was one of the things he was still trying to come to terms with.. he thought he lost his girlfriend. hell, he even blamed josh about killing her. his hands moved to her face, letting his thumb gently brush across some of the scarring on her skin with a smile. “you’re the first i’ve seen..” he knew it would only be a matter of time before the others showed up, unless it was simply fate that these two were with each other. “you’re all i care about right now."
mike was still beyond confused as to how he was in london of all places. after everything that happened on what was supposed to be a relaxing night at the washington lodge, his parents were determined to keep mike as guarded and close to them as they could which was beyond surprising. he was the one basically looking after everyone as much as he could and to say he was messed up from that night was a understatement. he still had horrible daydreams, intense nightmares, and it always sent him over the edge. he shouldn’t have been glad to get away from his family in an unknown city, but he really was. moving out of some of the stores in oxford, mike froze as he spotted the blonde. HIS BLONDE. and without thinking, he darted towards her. “hun??” he whispered, giving her no time to react to his voice as he lifted her into his arms. he hadn’t seen her much after everything --- between their families and the police, it was always hard to meet up with her. but she had to have known he was there for her whenever she needed. they were dating, for god sake... mike L O V E D jess. “jessica.. w-what are you doing here!?”
@snowbvllqueen
“Jess? Hon? Light of my life?”
masterxjaina:
“what in the kriffing hells is this place?”
"uh.. london.” he pointed towards a few of the signs and then towards some of the black taxis driving around. “is it not obvious?”
ladyfaiir:
The reality of the situation hit her suddenly. She was in a foreign version of her home country, surrounded by things that were perplexing and frightening (those fast-moving metal things they called cars were at the top of that list), and apparently someone was watching her every move and forcing her to stay in this place. Marian crossed to the nearest bench and sat with her hands clenched in her lap, trying to pull herself together and only just succeeding in holding back angry tears. Despite her best efforts she knew that her distress was probably showing on her face. She really hoped the person suddenly walking in her direction was not about to ask if she was alright…
“hey..” mike whispered, immediately sitting himself down next to the unknown girl. he knew that expression far too well, he knew something was wrong with her and even though it was a stranger, he still didn’t care. he was a confident guy and he was willing to put himself out there for people. he always was --- ever since what happened at the washington lodge though, he was putting himself out there more than usual. he and his friends went through something traumatic and people cared for the most part... but it didn’t make him the centre of everything. “---you’re confused as to why you’re here too, right??” he tried smiling, toying with the sleeve of his coat. “i get it..”
Is it safe? Well, I’m not dead yet. Famous last words.
