To Build A Home

This video project is a metaphor for bringing home into your surroundings. I think it ties well into the concept of architecture because it emphasizes the fact that the aesthetic of a building or interior can alter its mood and atmosphere. Every detail counts, from color schemes to textures, measurements, and materials used. A space is what you make of it, and a certain feeling can be brought to and expressed in any place with the right tools and creative energy.

Instagram as a Business Platform

Social media has become pervasive throughout smartphone culture. Instagram has gained major popularity in recent years. According to Instagram’s blog, the app boasts a whopping 300 million active users as of January 2015, which has doubled since 2013.

These users range from preteens to teenagers, adults, and seniors. One growing trend in Instagram culture has been using the app as a business tool. 

Instagram is becoming a place for companies to connect with existing and potential clients. The photo-sharing app is a quick, easy way to share company updates and add a personal touch.

Instagram is even making an appearance in the newsroom of some companies. For example, the Associated Press is has chosen some of its photographers to use their own Instagram as a place to post company-related material.

What inspires you about new technology?

As technology continues to expand and evolve, the ways in which media can be created and shared have been transformed. Social platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter allow for communication among people around the world. Through endless routes in new technologies, it is becoming exponentially easier and more efficient to reach a diverse audience through the internet and receive feedback from new users. Information about new businesses and events is becoming increasingly accessible and personable with blogs and apps that can be viewed on mobile devices. With smartphones, we virtually have the entire world in our pockets.

Technology also creates interesting opportunities for mixed media artwork that beautifully blurs the boundaries between media art and other forms of two and three dimensional art. With programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, artists can step out of the “norm” and create pieces that incorporate both traditional techniques and the use of more advanced software, especially in the field of graphic design. I am interested to see how the field of art and architecture will continue to be transformed by technology in the future.
