What I should be doing is working on my first book. What I’m doing instead is dreaming up scenes for my second book.

"Your life, your 'heart', knows who you belong to."
His Obsession, the new vampire romance book by Midnight Hill releasing late 2026.
"But I don't like the ending/the character/the plot point. I would have done it differently."
Yes. Good. Go get a pen. This is where it begins.
Why is the hardest part of writing a book not the actual writing, but writing a blurb? Capturing the essence of your story, with all the characters and complex relationships, in only a couple hundred words, without spoiling anything major.
Annabelle's Diary: Prologue
This is a small collection of shorts I'm going to do to introduce you to the main character of my book, His Obsession. Enjoy learning more about Annabelle, a character I have very much enjoyed writing.
I have to stand on my toes to reach the high parts of my small apartment. I knock down a letter, one that was probably put up there by Mama before she died. the letter is in a bright red envelope with the words WARNING inked on it. I flip it open. It's a letter reminding us to pay our debts. I scoff. Fat lot of good that did, Mama still died. I pull a chair up to the cupboards and stand on it. That's better, I can reach now. I still have to stand on my toes, and I can't see on the top, but it's enough to dust it. A cloud of dust blooms into the air and I cough, waving it away from my face, before resuming my dusting.
At the end of the cupboard, my hand hits something. I nudge it to the edge and barely avoid it as it almost falls on my head. It's a book. I pick it up and smile. It's a dusty notebook, but brushing off the dust reveals handdrawn flowers and hearts. They've dulled over time and have smudged from all the crying I did back then, but there's no doubt it's the diary I started writing after Mama died. I tuck it under my mattress. I'm probably going to live a long time, I'll probably go through another event where I'll need something to vent to, and it's not like I'll ever have friends. For now, it'll be a piece of Mama that remains with me.
