The vast majority of Twilis is hemeralope/nyctalope to different degrees !
(Note for my english and non-english friends : as you may or may not know, in a vast majority of langages nyctalopia (from νύξ [nux], “night”, and ὤψ [ops],“sight”) is the faculty to see better in the dark than in a lit environment (antonym : hemeralopia, (same but with ἡμέϱα [éméra], “day”), where you have a worse night vision than average).
Except in english, where the definitions are swapped : hemeralopia becomes nyctalopia, and nyctalopia = hemeralopia, which can be confusing.
Why is that ? Because the first word « nyctalopia », in ancient greek νυκταλωπία [nuktalopia], actually mean both definitions : the first meaning of the word would be “peculiarity of nocturnal vision, in good or bad”, with both meanings coexisting during Antiquity.
Etymologically-speaking, if « nyctalope » means «who can’t see at night », the al- is the transformation of the privative alpha in ancient greek (used to mean « without » or « not », as example, the word "immortal" «ἀθάνατος » [athanatos] is formed by the privative ἀ- and the word θάνατος [thanatos], death. It’s literally « wich does not die », as in « without death ». That’s how it works). If it rather means « who sees at night », then the -a would only be the accusative form of νύξ (νυκτά).
This explained, I’ll use « nyctalopia » to talk about better sight in the dark, (sorry my little english friends), not only because it’s easier for me, but also because it’s much more easy to work with : if nyctalopia is a condition where your sight is better at night, then hemeralopia is where it’s better during the day !)
So.
Nyctalopia is the faculty to see better in penumbra than average (a crepuscular or nocturnal vision of sorts) and the incapacity to see well in daytime light. Since sight mainly relies on light to perceive the world, the luminosity difference in the dark makes it so people mainly perceive shapes rather than colours. Which I am conveniently using to explain the colour differences between Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild, the latter having (by comparison) more saturated colours than TP.
But how does it works ?
You see, in the eye, the cones are in charge of light, colour perception and visual acuity, whereas rods are very sensitive and reactive, responding to weaker luminous intensity. Towards the periphery of the eye, the number of rods predominates. Since the center of the eye is mainly used to percieve details in a lit environment, eye-corner sight is used for a better night vision : in obscurity, differences between central and periferical vision dwindle down, it makes spacial awareness and alert state spike up : the eyes are more reactive to luminosity changes and movements. Which explains the difference between twili archer masks and regular ones !
Exibit 1 : Mask of fatass A (rcher) which has an eye hole to shoot arrows. Center of the eye for details perception, you got it.
Exibit 2 : Mask of fatass B, covering the front of the eyes but leaving the periferical vision clear, ensuring a) an acute attention to movement and environmental changes in b) a Twilight Realm environment where the light is very dim, aka you don't have much light to see. Perfect for a guard, which could -theorically speaking, of course- fight against multiple opponents or without seeing and still have a global understanding of all movements around themselves.

Not to forget she also dumps it on Link's forehead, mentions it looks kind of cheap, OF COURSE IF IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A SHIELD ON YOUR HEAD ITS GOING TO BE IN METAL OR STONE NOT IN WOOD- ahem. as I said, I will make another post.)

Anyway. About eyes.
Something else plays into twili nyctalopia : those are the fovea and the tapetum lucidum (or eyeshine (apparently))! (which are parts of the eye.) The fovea allows a great night vision and being able to see the details in the dark (much like owls) whereas the tapetum lucidum, which is a mirroring layer, increases by light reflection the quantity of received light, that is the eye sensitivity to it, to be able to see in the dark. The nocturnal vision with a tapetum lucidum is enhanced while details can be foggy, and it makes the eye glow (for my AU, not irl). It’s common in mammals such as canidae for example.
(try not to think about the connections between « mirror » and « eye » thematics. Surely it could only be a coincidence, right.)
Marking around twili eyes are also redirect light to the iris, like the heart pattern on barn owls redirect the sounds toward their ears. That being said, some examples to resume how twili nyctalopia works :
All three «eye models » can « activate » a nyctalopia as in Twilight Princess when using the senses with Wolf Link. Proof : when Midna shows Wolf Link how to activate the senses (x button on the Wii U, mind you) she says : « See, isn’t being a wolf more convenient? », implying that twili can do that too (and I am taking this fact and running with it, and also the fact that it implies that she COULD shapeshit into a wolf ? Could other twili do this too ? I won't let the opportunity pass under my nose, gotta give it some thoughts).
And as for HOW someone could get nyctalopia, it’s mainly due irl to blindness caused by snow or desert sands (Ooooh could that be related to the Gerudo Desert or the Snowpeaks ? You know ? Where there aren’t any people left ? You remember, the Gerudo Desert, with its Arbiters Ground, used to imprison, torture and execute criminals marked as such by the Royal Family ? Remember ? Where the Mirror of Twilight is stored and was used to « « execute » » some of the worse criminals ? Hm ? Hm ??? Surely there’s no way it could tie the interlopers, half-ancestors of the twili, with- )

It also seems like it will go off, sound and vibration, whenever someone posts. Trump is awake at 2 AM. You will not be able to shut off your phone or stop the noise until you handle this. It will also drain your battery by being a surprise 2 AM noisemaker.
Don't put it on your phone. It's actually stealing less data than I expected (I mean, yes, OBVIOUSLY it's tracking your location and sending that to any cop who's bored, but it isn't taking any credit card info, so hey, that's nice), but it still can access and fuck up anything saved on your phone, record any unlocking method you use including fingerprint and face, and seems to want to do so to force you to suddenly have an explosion of noise.
Again: this may extend to dropping a call for an ambulance.
