I sway in and out of consciousness about the point of doing any of this. I’m constantly evaluating the way I feel at a time when there are countless angles to be seen from and to still feel like I can’t seem to grasp anyones attention. Attention? Then curiosity follows, am I doing this for attention? Is that what this is about? I stand checked, again.

A few of my fav selects from my recent trip to Madison, Florida to celebrate my late great grannies bday. She passed away two years ago. Each year family from all over would meet at her house in Madison for her yearly birthday celebration. A beautiful family gathering. A chance for distant loved ones to regroup and commune southern style. A chance for me to refresh my memory of all my cousins, aunts, and uncles. Rhiannon's Intro

This is apart of an incomplete thought about a zine I'm currently putting together about sex workers. They too are people with unique occupations, but also students, mothers, friends, entrepreneurs, athletes, love ones, and so much more. In this video you are able to get lost in the symmetrical tattoos invading Rhiannon's body while listening to a snippet of her briefly address being stereotyped as a sex worker. This video was shot and edited by me. My pen name is Miguelfingr but everyone refers to me as Angel. Feedback and constructive criticism is welcome. Please refrain from leaving any negative comments for I truly believe that in order to find better ways to express ourselves we must be more cognizant in the way we choose to speak to each other moving forward. This is the result of my first time shooting in Rollei Infrared. I shot the entire roll without flash on purpose but only because I hate carrying around my flash. I had no clue the photos would come out this dark but I don’t mind it at all. The heavy shadows creates this eerie vibe that is romantic in a way. A sense of mystery even that there is something there beyond the shadows that waits to be revealed. Pulls you in closer for a more intimate assessment of the subject in the photo. Although much of the roll would probably be seen as underexposed I see it as a success. I’m looking forward to shooting with my second roll of infrared 35mm film next time on my point and shoot Nikon 35ti. Keep you posted with the results.

How good are you at forming new habits for yourself? I’m impulsive, my mind is organized chaos, and I’m not a morning person so for me forming new habits aren’t easy. Often I have the intention to incorporate habitual rituals into my daily routine but get distracted by the many task of my structureless day. As my friends love to say, “Angel be doing the most.” This year I want to be more conscious about my mental health. I’m extremely hard on myself and too often putting myself down or simply not acknowledging how truly talented and amazing I am as a person. On my recent shoot with Synead we spoke about our upcoming work as artist and established our desire for healthier mental space in efforts to build a stronger connection with ourselves. Synead has opened herself up to new rituals affirming positivity, self love, and clarity in her life. She has eliminated the act of complaining about anything from her speech. Instead of getting pessimistic when something doesn’t go as planned she takes a moment to find resolve. Being cognizant of the words you speak into existence can contribute to your quality of life thus further contributing your mental health. A task easier said than done for some of us but will never come into fruition unless you just do it. Here starts the journey of exercising mindful rituals into my life. Day 1 of not complaining. Found myself back where I started on my ruling planet, grounded myself in the earth deep enough fully accepting the amount of labor required to build an indestructible infrastructure. Met a man who propels me into the sky. Tells me to explode from within and so I do. Planting the right seeds, quality over quantity, & harvest after watching them grow. These are just a few incomplete thoughts I had to accompany these self portraits I took inspired by the color of my current hairstyle and background paper, green.

Really excited about the results from the shoot I recently had with artist Synead. I will be posting selects from our shoot and a short essay from our conversation together this month. Stay tuned!
