hanli was never a demanding person, but there was one thing that she really, really, really, really wanted to do. like really. and that was to visit an amusement park. all her life, she’d never gotten the chance to do so; during her earlier years in taiwan, her parents never had the time to indulge in her “childish fantasies” (their words, not hers) and when she got to korea, her life revolved around training, training and more training.
thus, it was no surprise that when they’d reached lotte world, hanli could barely contain her excitement, her lips breaking out into a huge grin. it was times like this where she was truly grateful to be an idol - she’d been asked to film a fun little summer special video for the fans, to be released on wish’s fancafe. she wasn’t alone, though, management had also assigned her to be with miji.
that only made things better, hanli thought excitedly, as she shot the older girl a wide smile, her eyes disappearing into little crescents of joy. hanli and miji had a rather interesting relationship - hanli had started out being terrified of miji, having heard the rumors of her being a school bully and it had brought up bad memories that hanli would rather repress. but somehow, they’d ended up in the same group and with the two of them being rappers, miji had took the time out to help hanli articulate her raps more clearly, practicing parts where hanli was offbeat, going out of her way to help her. and soon, over shared donkatsus and sushi rolls, they’d formed a close rapport.
she really couldn’t wait for the cameras to start rolling so they could finally start exploring the amusement part. for the first time in a long time, the thoughts in her head weren’t worry-laced, but instead, filled with an assortment of animated scenarios. would they take the roller coaster first? would they be able to buy cute headbands?
“i’m so excited!” hanli blurted.
when miji received the news that she’d be heading to an amusement park for a variety show filming, she never felt more grateful for her job (and probably the only time she’d feel grateful) because free amusement park tickets? plus, she’s getting paid to do this? she’s definitely in.
once she stepped foot into lotte world, she felt at home. did that sound weird? miji truly knew lotte world like the back of her hand though. she just hopes that the ahjummas and ahjusshis from her high school days weren’t still working here. they don’t exactly have a… pretty impression of her. with her running around the park rowdily like she owned the place, cutting the rides’ queues, one would think that the side-glares casted at miji and the not-so-subtle gossiping and clicking of tongues have made it clear that miji definitely isn’t a customer they look forward to serving again.
gulping down the anxiety that she was getting from the thought that she might be faced with people from her past again, she decided to just focus on enjoying the present moment. after all, lotte world was one of the few places where she truly felt free of all her troubles, even back then. furthermore, she didn’t want to ruin it for hanli, whose eyes were literally twinkling with excitement. seeing hanli genuinely happy brought a small smile to miji’s face, it wasn’t everyday that miji sees her laughing with the youthfulness a teenager her age should have.
she remembers how timid hanli was when they first met. sure, she was afraid of miji just like any other normal person would but she couldn’t feel any malice coming from her… not like every other person who would willingly witchhunt miji just because of one mere article they read. you could say hanli was one of miji’s first few steps into opening up again, and not just pushing people away with her iljin exterior.
upon hearing hanli express her excitement, miji was determined not to lose out in terms of enthusiasm. she flashed hanli a wink before slipping on her shades. “alright, this unnie here will show you how to truly have fun in an amusement park.”
