An important factor about Mijoo is the concept of her constant drive to accomplish her goals for not just herself but for others around her as well. She is confident in that aspect as well as willing to make a point of exactly who she is and show why she deserves respect. But while she is a strong woman and will always be even as a film character, she is also someone that does not wish to be hurt emotionally at all.

It’s hard to pick a single character for her because she’s not just one character. There are many layers to her and her personality and there isn’t a character that is just like her overall. 

Of course, one could say that Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel captures her personality but that’s just one part of who she is. Jyn Erso would be the rebel part of her, the one that wishes to accomplish all she can and never gives up. Samantha Borgens would be the part of her that runs from the emotional connection but eventually, destiny smacks her in the face and she can’t run from her desire to be loved and can only force herself to overcome the dreadful feeling that she is destined to be unloved.

“My unnie never listened to our parents.”

Mijoo started to say that as she sat in the chair in the office of a woman that was paid to listen to her. Mijoo stood looking out the window as she remembered her sister yelling at their step-father. Her mother never objected to anything that her daughters wanted. She only advised them to be careful, to be considerate of everything. Her mother had already pulled her away from one career only to watch her daughter jump back into it.

“I know that most of my life that we were not near each other but… she became someone that I looked up to whether I liked to admit it or not. I didn’t expect her to be… in my life very much but she cared deeply for me. She cared when I started to train and did her best to give her the best advice. To this day… I always follow what she told me and Jiho.”

“Never compromise yourself for an image you don’t believe in, Lorna.”

“My father taught me the value of controlling myself. It was never about controlling anything around me. My actions are what I can control. My presence is what can influence others. I know that my father… did not expect me to become the woman I am. He didn’t expect me to find… a different way of teaching equality. My sisters are… much more hostile than me. They were and… are very explosive and I am… controlled… the controlled version of their chaos.”

Her fingertips brush over the emerald gemstone around her neck, her eyes staring out at the city as she exhaled slowly.

“I do wonder sometimes if I were to have taken Xavier’s hand would I have been able to do all that I have. To continue along the path of… being a star. Would I have been able to raise my baby brother? Would I have been able to do anything that I’ve been doing? God… would I be able to stand on the stage? My sister, my best friends…? They are the reason I stand up. They are the reason why I do what I do. I don’t need another reason… they are my reason for never giving up.”
