New cosplay!
Elle from Terranigma, one of the best games on the snes which is very dear to my heart.
I did an Elle cosplay 20 years ago and it was time to redo from scratch. It's quite an improvement and much more acurate to the source material :)

With my new Nausicaa tunic done, detail shots felt the most appropriate way to celebrate! It was nice to gussy up her original bag and tie in some new beaded details across her fanny pack and medicine specimen jars. Fun fact, the colors for the jar holder and her fanny pack actually come from a beaded set my dad made me when I was younger. I thought whenever I got around to making a jingle regalia those would be my colors, but it's been years and this seemed the best opportunity to tie it back in. At the moment my top three favorite details are her bug bandolier, bug "wing" cap lenses, and my slightly judgemental looking Teto. Looking forward to debuting her at Holiday Matsuri next month!
This looks absolutely amazing!
New costume: Utahime Iori from Jujutsu Kaisen
We managed some cool effects when taking some photos at home. It was really fun to try out something new.
Mariko Shinobu from Oniisama e
She was on my cosplay wishlist for ages
This is super duper still under construction, but I've been slowly building my own cosplay archive website! I really only have 2023's cosplays up so far along with a couple others, but I'm really proud to have been able to code even this much.
I'd like to give it a snazzier layout in the future, maybe one with some pixel art flair, but I'm happy to say I have a little place of my own for the moment!
Lovely homepage and costumes ✨️
Escaflowne cosplayers from the 90s/early 2000s!
These (and a few other thumbnails that were unfortunately not archived) were taken from The Burning Fortress*The Lair of Dilandau Albatou, a Dilandau fansite/shrine by Syrena. It was listed on Anipike (now defunct) and accessed through the Wayback Machine.
Wow, judging from the looks of these photos, these were most likely taken with a film camera, AND taken at one of the Japanese Comiket events! Probably around 1996 or 1997. This is a really cool look at how Japanese cosplay used to be--note that high-quality wigs were NOT common back then, and many cosplayers just styled their hair to be as close as possible to a character's look. You also couldn't just buy pre-made anime costumes back then, and cosplay "patterns" was also not a thing yet, so these costumes were more than likely either patterned by hand or modified from existing patterns, and sewn by the cosplayers entirely themselves. Cosplay has evolved a lot since then!
Wow... I was like 'wait I know these photos' anf reading about their source it makes sense. I visited that Dilandau shrine back in the day :D
Sadly, I didn't have much time for Cosplay this year, but I managed to finish a new costume: Sayla Mass from the OG Gundam!
I love the classic look. I reused my super low quality Celes wig. I cut it and used the cutoff to make new wefts to add more volume.
The belt is made from left over fabric and foam for the gold pieces.
Another favourite piece are the boots. They aren't the most acurate, but they are comfy and fit perfectly and I got them for 1€ at a flea market.
Lionboogy or @lumlionel might hold the record for longest active cosplay photographer in the States. If you check his website usagichan2.com you’ll see cosplay photos (and coverage) from the first Anime Expo 1992. His latest photos? Anime Los Angeles 2023 from last weekend! Previously to 1999, Fanime was a college con for five years. The 1999 edition was held at Wyndham Hotel and by 2000 they’ve moved to Santa Clara convention center until 2004. Currently Fanime is held at San Jose convention center. Please check his site for more photos and coverage from more cons. usagichan2.com as well as his page on @acosplayparadise (photos digital enhanced for enlargement)

Funny enough, I first discovered Jay Kay Klein's photography from TriCon 1966 here on Tumblr.I was searching for fandom history and came across a girl in a Star Trek uniform, that lead me to research the convention and discovered Gene Roddenberry was at TriCon along with pilot episodes, costumes and models. I also discovered the TV premiere was 3 days from the last day of the con.
More photos of good girl Tressa!
