I'm sorry, is this... Is this implying there's no DYE in that rug? All raw wool in its natural colours? She fucking bred the sheep to get the colours she wanted over the course of ten years!? Holy shit.
Edit: this has gotten a huge amount of traction (fibrearts tumblr is a, uh, tight-knit community it seems!) so I am adding this note to state that I checked Lola Cody's website and can confirm: There is no dye in her work. She uses exclusively hand-spun Churro wool sheared from her home-raised sheep flock. It's all natural colours!
The Southwestern Association of American Indian Arts features a ton of incredible Indigenous masters across mediums, one of which is Lola Cody! They have Indian Markets throughout the year and also Native Fashion Week if you're looking to support artisans both established and up and coming.
I'm sure a lot of folks have also seen one of her daughters, Melissa Cody's works on here before too. She just had an exhibition at the MoMA a year or two ago, and had an excellent interview speaking on her process of tradition through the lens of adapting to new technologies. She also spoke on how video games and pixels inform her textile practice.
Seeing a lot of folks looking to buy Diné rugs too, in which case I always love to plug "Adopt A Native Elder". If you want to tangibly support some of our communities elders they host an annual rug sale, run a gift shop, & also offer vouchers to supply them with fire wood/food/and yarn.
My kingdom for a dungeon meshi doppelganger cosplay group. Like a Big One, like genshin impact cosplay meetup size big. You want to be really ornate? Go ahead. You want to be a huge ol memer? Be my guest. You wanna be a hot glue, five below knock off? Babe it is hard work and someones gotta do it. I would personally love to be an incredibly scrawny Senshi or a ridiculously tall Chilchuck

For those of you getting ready for con season (ahem, Kamicon), here’s an easy way to remove old makeup stains! Mix a bit of blue dish soap and peroxide together and scrub the stained area with it.

Sometimes a group of queer, traumatized people come together and beat the shit out of each other and do DARVO tactics to recreate what their parents did to them. And that's beautiful.
ohh i have plany off seam allowance.,,

Patterning the suit file alone was nearly a six month process. I am not tech literate or particularly good at learning software so everything was designed pepakura style on a smaller scale. Then scanned, tweaked, reprinted, assembled, and tweaked again until it was perfect lmao. Then I had to scale it up to full size, account for seam allowance and pray it matched up at the printers. It did! Since then I've been screen printing and stoning on final details.
The glove here was the first one I made but I'm not using it. Yes it looks funky on a pool noodle but the fit is pretty decent on me. the issue is wet look vinyl made it look cheap I think. The combination of trim and bicolor stones did not help. So I'm remaking it a little differently. Still working up the nerve to style the wig but I'll get there ^^;
Have I done anything substantial on her since last may? No
Am I getting back into the groove after finishing up Deguchi? Yes!
I've been using itty bitty, stupidly small stones to decorate the inset lace pattern she has on her suit stripes, and it's literally taken me years. I try not to work on it when it starts to feel like a chore since that association sticks with the costume long term. But I am back with new twin needles and looking forward to finishing her glove, hopefully that will help me finish the last leg of stoning and then motivate me to tackle the wig
This is from a few months ago but her new claws came out just how I'd hoped! The final color is a chameleon multichrome nail polish over a maroon base so you get these deep red shadows, to brassy golds with a fun sort of beetle green flip on the edges. It's the same polish I used on her belt ring so things stay cohesive.
