To me it is true that people who trace Generative AI artwork make it harder for real artists to get commissions. Because gen-ai using artists aren’t working hard to make an image they’re just giving ai someone’s oc and telling it to generate something based on what someone wants but have it styled like a coloring page so they can do the bare minimum or just trace it outright with the errors kept in and it’s just clean lineart no sketch in sight.
Actual artists will spend days drawing a sketch and making sure it’s perfect before showing it to the one who commissioned them! Only then do they work on the lineart and such. Mistakes are often easily fixed.
Anyway feel free to block the accounts I’m not dealing with scammers coming over here saying they’re getting harassed over a callout that shows proof of art theft. Two of these people weren’t even the one getting called out!

Also I have a reblog of an account that likely was an old banned blog of laraverse01 committing art theft too. Similar name at least.

What is art theft?
Art theft can occur when someone, accidentally or purposely, posts art they saw offsite (or even onsite) and doesn’t credit the original artist. Even with a watermark it is important to always link to whoever created the original piece. Now some may think: “Well there’s a watermark there why should I credit the artist?” And the answer is simple. Artists may change their watermarks over time meaning that it may no longer reflect a current username so saying who it was may help those who like the art.
Art theft doesn’t always involve posting art and saying it’s something you made. It can also be reposting art and saying: “Credit to the artist I found this offsite” which isn’t actually credit and shows you didn’t like the art if you made little effort to find the original artist. Pinterest and Reddit are not reliable sources unless the original artist only uses them or Instagram. If the original art was on tumblr, reblogging is better than reposting it without any credits.
Often times someone’s art that is stolen gets more attention than the person who put work into it and the reposter gets more popular than the person they stole from. And often the reposter will get all defensive when called out saying: “Well I didn’t claim it as my art therefore I’m not committing art theft” which is entirely untrue.
Much like hbomberguy said once, your definition of plagiarism doesn’t change the fact you’re still plagiarizing someone else.
Or in this case, your definition of art theft doesn’t change the fact that you’re still committing art theft just because you’re not claiming it’s your art.
“I simply shared images that I liked or that matched a certain vibe.” Is another excuse used by an art thief.
Also if some post out there is saying I treat artists badly over here I’d like to remind everyone all the artist accounts I call out over here have clear signs of using Gen-AI in the process of their work. They also tend to repost art with watermarks removed so the original artist can’t be located. They generally comment on all posts that are looking for artists to commission art from or DM people asking them to commission them. I do not yell at genuine artists and anyone claiming I do are just trying to discredit me because I called them out.
I found that blocking:

Seems to help root out the nondisclosed ads some pages post
If i press and hold the links, I can copy them. Idk if it works for all Tumblr apps though
Shouldn’t have to block the links to avoid the ads to begin with. It’s really easy to disclose sponsored products! They just don’t want to.
If you don’t know what to do just draw. Make something. Create with your feelings. Whatever worries you will create artwork that holds those memories that you’ll look back on. Of joy, sorrow, or boredom. Make what you feel to the best of your ability. It doesn’t have to be good as long as you drew it yourself.
“Drawing is too hard” some may say, but you know what? It was never easy to begin with. But that’s why it’s important to find something to draw with that isn’t typing text into Chat-GPT. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Whatever you make by your own hands/feet/etc will hold your heart and soul long after you’re gone. Someone will find it. Someone will see it. They won’t know what you felt back then but they will still enjoy it and pass it on for more to see.
Commission scams v2
(Commission scams v2)
How it starts
(How it starts)
So you are a tumblr artist and you want to share your art into the void that is tumblr. You make a post, add the usual tags like ‘my art’, ‘artists on tumblr’, ‘digital art’, or event just ‘art’ in general. Then you hit post and watch it see how much attention your hard work will get. Maybe you even did a commission and your commissions are open so you may have even added ‘commissions open’ as an extra tag. Now you wait. Surely it’ll take forever to get any interest…But! Then you see it! A comment asking you if your commissions are open. It’s done within seconds of the post being made. What luck! You do have commissions open so you DM them because they asked you to.
—
How it works
(How it works)
Once you message the account they will then tell you they want you to draw their pet or a family member such as their son. But they won’t take any offered payment methods that you have listed in your commissions post that they saw. Instead, they will ask you what your email address is so they can send you the money that way. Might seem odd but they claim they just have issues with using the links you offer. But they promise a high payment for this simple commission so you give them your email address and wait for the payment to come through. Unfortunately something goes wrong. There’s a new email from ‘PayPal’ but it’s claiming there’s been a little problem crediting your account and that you need to pay to upgrade it in order to receive the payment. So you do as stated but somehow this isn’t enough. Now you don’t have money, you lost some money too, and the account you messaged is threatening to get the local law enforcement after you if you can’t send them the money back. You get scared and start to panic. So you keep sending money and more money but nothings happening. However, if you calm down and pay attention you’ll likely notice the real issue.
—
The fake PayPal email
(The fake PayPal email)
Upon closer inspection the ‘PayPal’ message you’ve received is fake and doesn’t come from the official PayPal email address. The account who contacted you is scamming you and has no intention to pay you and that’s why they won’t use any provided links. You’ve been scammed out of work and likely have lost more money than you wanted to lose.
—
What can you do to avoid this scam?
(What can you do to avoid this scam?)
When posting art always keep an eye out for these kind of spam bots. They’ll comment asking you to DM them or comment asking you to DM them if commissions are open. You will eventually notice the repetitive comments across multiple posts they like too. Do not contact these accounts and instead block them and alert other artists about them.
(If you find this guide useful, feel free to commission me for art! Just adding it so tags are relevant and also to show off any of these bots that target posts lol)
ao3 commissioner scams
(ao3 commissioner scams)
Note: This scam also occurs on tumblr but I decided to go ahead and make this guide for writers who get this scam and seem unsure if it’s a legit person or a bot.
—
How it starts
You’ve posted the first (or second) chapter of your newest fanfic/story and are eagerly waiting to see what others think of your writing so far! You’ve poured your heart (and soul) into the text and made sure there’s no visible grammatical errors though you may have missed a few of them. Regardless, you’re very excited to see what kind of feedback you get and you’ve set it so even guests can leave their thoughts! And some time later..Congratulations! There it is! Your first comment complimenting your writing style! You thank them for their feedback, but something seems off…
—
How it goes
The guest seems very excited that you’ve replied to them so they ask you if you have any other methods of communication since they’d love to socialize with you! You tell them they can contact you via another social platform (like Discord or tumblr) and immediately they DM you. It’s only after you see the message that you realize they didn’t actually appreciate your work.
—
What it is
The DM you got sent is just them telling you they do commissions and they seem to now see you as a client who is going to commission them. They ask you for examples of your work (don’t give it to them) and then they’ll show you a portfolio of work that is highly likely to be AI-generated or traced from the work of others. They may then want to discuss the details of the commission they think you want to order based on the fanfic your writing. They just saw you as a buisiness opportunity. How disappointing.
—
What can you do?
Limit who can comment on your fics (Make scammers go the extra mile to even deserve your attention!), don’t give them your contact info (They don’t care about your writing), or just flag them as spam/block them and move on.
—
And that’s all! If you found this guide helpful, feel free to share it among your writer friends and maybe even look at one of my stories while you’re at the end of this post. Maybe even check out my list of other scam spotting methods!
(Idk what tags are really relevant for this but story link is just to keep the tags relevant!)
Sometimes I like to explain commission scams to commission scammers because they always block me immediately lol
(I don’t do it very often, just on occasion.)
Haha wow, that’s… actually kind of impressive Gotta admit, it must feel satisfying to school scammers like that lol. Just glad there are artists like you keeping people aware
A bit late to seeing this but quite frankly I’m an artist who isn’t using Gen-AI to hide the watermarks on stolen art. You make it harder for real artists like me to get commissions because you aren’t honest about your art process. Have fun with that! Stop stealing stuff from actual artists.

You’re not the only artist in the world, and not every artist is a scammer just because you think so. Evie never claimed that they created that artwork themselves. Posting someone else’s art isn’t necessarily wrong; it can also be a way of appreciating other artists and helping their work reach more people. That’s a form of supporting fellow artists. Who do you think you are? We’ve also received a lot of evidence that you behave this way toward artists. You’re not in a position to claim that you support the artist community when you treat artists like this.
Thank you so much, Lara.
Honestly, when I found out that this same person has apparently done similar things to other artists too, I wasn't even surprised anymore. I genuinely don't understand why some people choose to target artists like this.
What makes this frustrating is that I already explained myself before. I never claimed that the cover art or reference images being discussed were my own artwork. I simply shared images that I liked or that matched a certain vibe. The artworks I've said belong to clients do belong to clients, and every client I've worked with has been happy with my work.
I also pointed out that if someone had concerns about me, they could have messaged me privately first instead of making a public post. I was willing to answer questions and explain things. Unfortunately, after I replied, my comment ended up being deleted.
At this point, I'm just tired of the misinformation and assumptions. If you've seen these posts and understand what's happening, I'd really appreciate it if you could report them as harassment/spam. Please also be cautious of accounts involved in spreading these accusations, including @obi-troll-kenobi and @ai-art-thieves.
I just want to focus on my art and my clients, not unnecessary drama.
I’m not reading all of that.
@ai-art-thieves here’s the nonsense I got this morning that I’ve still not read much beyond the accusation that I’m mean to all artists lol
god, what is with these people and not showing evidence that they've actually drawn their art instead of stealing it or generating it with ai and then tracing it?
Like... come the hell on! That laraverse01 person looked like they drew an outline over ai artwork and called it a day!
Some users are receiving fake account suspension messages. Ko-fi will never ask for your payment details via DM. If you haven't clicked any links, your account is fine.
Important info for ko-fi users!
Guess I was running from something; I was running back to you.
No, for real. This nonsense has already run rampant on facebook. I'm not having it run rampant on tumblr.

How did I know it was AI?
A lot of reasons, actually.
Luke and Calum during the Youngblood era and Michael and Ashton during the Sounds Good Feels Good era
Michael doesn't have his forearm tattoos!
Where's Calum's mole?
Michael has his hair from Youngblood, but he has the piercing from post-Self Titled and Sounds Good Feels Good
Update: Oh so apparently this shit's also happening on Tiktok too!
Spleeeendid.

eviewisdom is another scam artist, very similar to other scam artists out there - vastly different art styles, almost each image claiming to be a "commission from a client" and these generic prompt-y descriptions.
Her cover art is stolen
The first art she uploaded is also stolen
The others are hard to track but like I said, they differ in style a lot and are often uploaded in pretty bad quality.
Some of them seem to be AI-ed stolen artwork (I'm pretty sure I've seen OG art for that one)
and another exaple of AI, look at the hands and heads
damn! you even did the work for me.
a thing you didn't point out is that evie has reblogged evrenn's crashout
...among other things.
...which is such a shame because they can do art.
This doesn't look all that bad. ...but unfortunately I can't trust this because the image could be traced from somewhere.
If you aren't being honest with your skills as an artist, then you're a scammer. Plain and simple.
you look like a scammer why you've spent so much time researching artists and writing lengthy posts about them. If you're going to make claims like that, you should have solid evidence rather than assumptions
You're an art thief.
