hey, i just wanted to know if you follow the nhl gossip blogs and have heard rumours about will and the influencer kapri lyons. i didn't pay them much attention because they didn't seem to have any weight, but she was just in boston and a few things people observed suggest she really could have linked up with will. (like her story about watching miracle on her flight home, it's one of will's favourite movies.)
i'm kinda bummed because i guess i really had a little hope that willmack was a real thing. like a potentially romantic thing.
and now i feel sorta horrified that my attachment to wm is more parasocial and (ugh i hate this word, but...) tinhatty than i had thought.
any tips for letting this go so i can just have fun with the web weaving again? i'm really shocked that i'm disappointed about this, it's ridiculous. i'll start by taking a break from wm/hockey/social media, but... :S
sorry, this ask is long and overwrought, i'm definitely acting like a kid. no need to post it. i guess i'm just looking for a little reassurance that whatever is happening is no big deal, people can live their lives however they want, date whoever they want, and i can be cool with that, AND i can also have fun making up scenarios for wm and reading fic about them.
Hey. I don’t follow the gossip blogs but I’ve heard secondhand about this girl. In my opinion, supported by actual facts and her behaviour about it all, she KNOWS what she is doing. She knows she gets engagement because of the Will gossip and she knows people think they’re seeing each other. So she plays on it. I think she has family in Boston? But she knows the hype that will happen. She knows the score. She’s cleverly using his name and association even though she isn’t actually naming him. The fangirls do all the work for her.
In my mind I think Will is very gay. From pictures and body language and interaction I think he and Mack are a romantic couple. There’s just too much there for them to not be? It would make no sense for them to act how they do and do all the things they have done and not be a couple. I don’t think it’s parasocial to think this. Is it not parasocial for those girls to think and gossip about Will with that girl? Or talk about Mack being some king of hookups? What’s wrong with thinking that they found love with each other? I don’t have a gay boy kink, do you? Or does the thought of them finding each other and finding happiness together make you happy? For me, it’s the latter and I don’t think that’s Tinhatty at all. I mean we clearly don’t know for sure about ANY of these things. But it seems the straight fangirls and homophobes are the ones dishing out the ‘parasocial’ and the ‘tinhatty’ comments but lacking the intelligence to realise it applies to themselves too.
I have to say, though, if it turns out I’m wrong and reading their numerous relationship-bent interactions wrong, then I’ll move on. Sure I’ll be disappointed that I was wrong. I’ll question my gaydar, my body language reading, my intuition but I’ll move on. I think we have to just remind ourselves we don’t actually know these people even though we feel as if we do sometimes. They show us little bits of themselves but not all of it.
I think if it’s making you upset or impacting your day to day life in a negative way then it’s always worth stepping back. Block tumblr, give yourself some time away. If it’s no longer fun then it isn’t worth it. We can’t control anything they do and we have no involvement in their intimate lives. Sometimes I step back if I feel as if I’m getting too into it all and I have used the block button quite liberally. Nothing against anyone I’ve blocked but it’s usually just because I don’t need to see it.
So yeah you seem as if you’re aware of all of that! You don’t seem as if you’re parasocial or Tinhatty. You seem like a normal person who’s got caught up in the love of it all and it’s made you happy for them. So you want it to be true. I think that’s really nice, rather than weird. I think you have already sorted it out in your mind that you’d like to take a step back and then just enjoy it. So block the stuff that bothers you, chat to like-minded blogs, follow the webweavers!
I hope I didn’t ramble on (ok fine I know I did) but also I’m always about in messages if you do want to chat and/or feel less weird 😳😆😆

I know it probably doesn't mean anything, but I noticed that of all of the NHL players that will be on Stanley Pup, the only ones who don't have a dog named after them were Ovechkin (since Thompson is there and has a dog named after him), Guerin (who is a general manager), and Will. I don't know the reason why the puppy is named Mack instead of Will, but I find it cute that even with Mack not there, we will have willmack 😂
I think it’s so cute they’ve called the dog after Mack too. Especially with Will going on there. The wording on the SJS insta about ‘noted dog lover Will Smith’ being linked to Macklin Celewienie is clever as well. They know what they’re doing!
ahh yes.. the dog representing sjs for the stanley pup is a wiener dog named Macklin Celewienie .. being accompanied by dog-lover macklin celebrini-lover will smith hockey .. right. right.
