His parents had him rather late in their lives. And he always sort of knew he'd never get as much time with them as other people would with their families. So it led him to start mourning while they were still alive, and he developed an association of love with it ending.
Very big fan of Douglas Adams.
He tried out daily contacts during his first week of his freshman year of high school since he didn't want to look like a dork with glasses. It took him about thirty minutes every morning to get them in correctly and he'd go to school red-eyed and leaking tears out of his nose from the irritation alone. Everybody just kind of assumed he cried every morning or got high. He also sliced his cornea once because he rubbed his eyes and decided glasses were the better investment.
He likes peanut butter a lot. The crunchy kind. You know, like people ought to.
As a very young kid he had a pet rock.
He puts the Grace in gray-ace!
The reason he hates cooking so much isn't primarily due to the fact that he can't (he's sure he could, given his ability to follow procedures) but cleaning up after the fact negates all enjoyment of the food he'd make.
He's been in a LOT of extracurriculars all throughout high school. Robotics club, Science Olympiad, astronomy society, etc. He tried out track for a season but ended up hating it, not because he couldn't run, but because he ended up feeling so terrible about himself he quit.
He has a very easy time making acquaintances but a hard time forming relationships any deeper than that. There are certainly exceptions, but even they get kept at arm's length.
He tries hard not to hold grudges against people, but he can't help it sometimes. He doesn't talk to anybody enough to have an outlet for his feelings.
ā¦Which led him to try journaling for a hot minute, but he'd always end up forgetting to write in it for such long stretches of time he eventually just repurposed it into another notebook.
A lot of his stranger clothes come as hand-me-downs from his grandfather. He didn't remember much about him, but he likes to think they'd get along well.
He has a mug for his coffee that is printed, all over, with fun facts. Including the bottom, handle, and inside. He reads it to wake himself up a little in the mornings even though he's had it for so long that it's all old news.
He's no good at judging hallway flow (like, at all) so it leads to frequent awkward situations in which he's doing a weird tap dance with the other party to try and get out of the way and still ends up running into something.
He kept his class open for kids to sit and have lunch with him if they felt like it. Almost every day, you could go in and find someone doing their homework at the kidney table in the front corner of his room, or yakking to him at length about their day, or minding their own business because they didn't have anywhere else to go during lunch.
