heart hits like a drum | triston & mikael

Triston angled himself so that Mikael could make himself more comfortable. Throwing caution to the wind he reached out to clasp Mikaelâs hand in his, running his thumb over his palm. He could at least allow himself this small comfort since Mikael was so willing to offer it. âYou know I canât help but worry. People are so ready to come here and take advantage of our family and now youâŠâ He trailed off and pursed his lips. He couldnât admit that he worried for Mikael more than he did the others, even though that was blatantly obvious.
âShould I even ask as to what it is that you want to take home?â Triston arched his brow, looking down at him with a smile as he moved his arm to wrap around Mikael. âI know you wouldnât have so I didnât bother arguing.â He laughed, intertwining his fingers with Mikaelâs as he grew silent, simply staring at their hands clasped together. Despite all his rules, Mikael had forced his way into Tristonâs heart. It did worry him because in his experience happiness never lasted. He didnât want to fool himself into anything but this at least he would allow. âDid you have any trouble today?â
âI know, itâs one of the things I love about you,â he answered. He was comfortable here, it was where he belonged and he knew it. Mikael shook his head. âThey will not take advantage of me. They can try but it will not end well for them.â His hand moved absently up and down Tristonâs side, keeping them close together. âYou know better than anyone how well I can handle myself.â
Turning his head some, he smiled. âYou know the answer that.â He laughed, enjoying the warmth and comfort of Tristonâs bed. How could this feel so right? Sometimes he thought he ought to give up his life of whoring around and just stay here with Triston. But it was a scary thing to settle down, and who knew if Triston would even allow that. He looked down at their intertwined fingers and he grinned. This was definitely against the rules. Slowly falling in love had to be.
âNo trouble. I had to remain in court all day, so the only trouble came from dealing with everyone in Kingâs Landing. I would have preferred to be here.â
