Watercolor. 29 of 30 for the Sktchy 30 Faces / 30 Days challenge. Wrapping things up tomorrow.
Need to kick out one more later today, and I’ll be caught up. 27/30 for the 30 Faces / 30 Days challenge. Colored pencil on Bristol board.
Some colored pencil from tonight. I’ve got a backlog of shit to post
A couple ink + marker sketches. Trying to keep up with the 30 Faces / 30 Days challenge. I forgot how taxing these kinds of challenges can be. I’m a day behind. Still.
Another self-portrait. Most of this was done during the Sktchy 30 Faces / 30 Days group live stream yesterday. Tried to keep the demo focused on the Loomis method for head construction, so I kept the tools simple: graphite on paper. I have grown to dislike rendering large areas of dark value with pencil. It’s so laborious.
A self-portrait from last night so I could get some practice before my Sktchy 30 Faces / 30 Days live stream this morning. It’s been a number of years since I did one of these. Should probably do them more often. Good practice.
Didn’t accomplish as much as I had hoped today — including catching up with the Sktchy 30 Faces / 30 Days challenge. But at least I didn’t fall further behind. So that’s a thing.
I’m a day behind with this 30 Faces / 30 Days challenge. Need to catch up tomorrow. Colored pencil on Bristol board.
Number 10/30 for the Sktchy 30 Faces / 30 Days challenge. More gouache. Tried to keep the statement as simple as possible. Used a larger flat brush to prevent me from getting in the weeds with detail.
Gouache on cold press watercolor paper. Tried to stick with a round brush for all of this one. Number 8 of 30 for the Sktchy 30 Faces / 30 Days February challenge.
Got behind on the 30 Faces / 30 Day challenge. Opted for some colored pencil sketches so I could get caught up easier. We’ll try gouache again tomorrow I think.
Gouache sketch for the Sktchy 30 Faces / 30 Days challenge this month. I forgot how much fun this medium is. MUST DO MOAR.
Graphite sketch for today’s Sktchy 30 Faces / 30 Days challenge portrait. Haven’t done one of these more formal value / structure studies in a while. Made me miss doing these kinds of drawings on 18”x24” paper with Wolf’s carbon pencils. This is graphite in a Moleskine.
BREAKING NEWS: watercolor is hard af! Mad props to all you watercolorists out there. This is my 3/30 for the Sktchy #30faces30days challenge. I’ll be flip-flopping all over the place with different styles and media this month. Let’s get uncomfortable! . #art #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #watercolor #sketchbook #sketch #portrait #portraiture #moleskine #coloredpencil #sktchy #sktchyapp
Some Friday night sketchbook stuff.
