Took a little walk in MIA park this afternoon after going to the art gallery and found this cool little craft & food fair going on. Tried to haggle for a beautiful pair of paintings depicting the sun, the desert and the sea, but the young artist was having none of it and I didn't have any more money - maybe next time 😉

At Last !
OK, so you may remember back in April my neighbour mentioned he wanted to put a slide show together about Doha. He asked me if I knew any suitable music - he wanted a bit of a groove with an Arabic twist. No sweat I said, I'll write it for you. I spent the next morning putting something together using various loops in a home studio program, made it into an mp3 file and gave it to him that day. It's taken him all this time to get it together, but here it is - enjoy the pictures and of course, my tune !

This is the Sultan of Oman's private yacht (yes, the big boat - not the little boat). Delivered in 2007 it is the biggest and fastest private yacht in the world. Parked (moored?) around the corner is an equally big logistical support vessel which 'shadows' this one on its journeys.

Change in the air
Right then, we had the first day since about April where the temperature stayed below 40 degrees this week. Had the AC off and the window open in the car on the way to work and I actually had cold water coming out of the tap the other day! I'm really looking forward to the 'winter' here. Went to a housewarming party in 'The Pearl' last night - the place has been made to look like Venice with canals and stuff. It is very nice, but a tad expensive to live there. We fired up a bar-b-q on the big balcony and had a right laugh. In the afternoon I got a knock on my door and it was a mate from work who'd made some spicy chicken to take to the party, but he couldn't taste it himself because he's a veggie so I had to act as official taster. I went kayaking a couple of weeks ago in the Qatar mangroves at sunset - photos to follow!
