A full moon (ok, technically the day after the full moon).
Evening sky and my attempt at taking photos of fireworks. Looks more artistic than fireworks.
One looks more ominous than the other.

Happy Halloween!
A little rain would do. Now I have a small scale river rapid behind my house. Texas rains!

Moments from Abilene, Lubbock, and Santa Fe. Hanging with the Grinch in Abilene, hiking through the Aspen trees, enchiladas at Palacio Cafe in Santa Fe, a calzone from One Guy in Lubbock, new and old friends and scenes from downtown Santa Fe.

Santa Fe bound! First stop, Abi-Haus in Abilene Texas. Met co owner Jimbo and his wife. Thanks to Day Tripper for telling us about this great place. Go with the smoked salmon sandwhich and truffle fries for sure.
It’s officially fall and it’s in the low 90s here in central Texas but something about butternut squash soup and pumpkin ale seem to cool things off and get me in the mood for this favorite season.
One doesn’t realise in early life that the price of freedom is loneliness.

Peace in the storm
The biggest mistake we can make is seeking calm waters in hopes of finding peace. The reality is, life is a storm. The key to true happiness is to remain in peace in the midst of the storm.
Luke 8:23-25 (NLT) As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?” The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!”
Don't know what to do with those liquor bottles once they've done their duty? May I suggest...
The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown (top) and me (bottom) with my U.C. Irvine 4 man crew team after winning third place in the 1996 Pacific Coast Rowing Championships. This book got me all nostalgic bringing back a rush of memories. Even though I was on the crew team for only one year, it was the best year of my university life. There is no bond like those of men on a crew team.
