Mostly done with this pet portrait. One funny thing about working so much in digital and going back to traditional media is that I actually miss the flexibility. I could have been a bit more restrained on the background with this piece, for example, and I can’t simply “adjust the layer”. I felt compelled to finish off the month with at least one more ink piece, considering that I only got a few done at the beginning of October. I have been having serious doubts about my ability to complete what seems like a simple project. Of course, I remind myself that life has been especially time-consuming lately, what with teaching a class, home-making, and at least one commission. Anyway, I still wonder how productive artists manage to strip away the unnecessary stuff and simplify their lives to get shit done. Or does that entail letting other parts of your life fall apart? I feel like I don’t know anymore. I am fairly certain it’s time to get rid of a lot of stuff(literal stuff) that distracts me, and get back on track to some semblance of feeling like an artist.
