“i mean... aren’t i already?” mike chuckled softly, “you’re not wrong. but... i dunno. i haven’t really gotten hurt before, so this is new to me. i mean, i’ve been sore and had bruises but never this.”

“i mean... it depends on how you play your cards the next five minutes, bud.”

“i hate you,” mike teased chuckling. “it was really good... i actually really loved it. can you imagine me in indiana for four, maybe five years? because i dunno... i really loved it.”

“how the hell did you manage to sprain your arm?” kai raised his brow, shaking his head. “help in what way? i’m sure you can still do almost everything being like that.”
“football... but why won’t anyone be my personal butler. i’m upset.”

“seriously? you hurt yourself on a trip? that can only happen to you.” rolling his eyes, nate couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle. “don’t think i’m going to be your butler now.”
mike pouted, “but this arm is what’s gonna put us both into mansions for retirement, big brother.”

“it’s so boring! there’s nothing to do there.”

“well, that sucks.” sam mumbled, hardly looking up from the email she’d been reading on her phone. when she finally noticed the sling on his arm, however, she did give him her attention. “those aren’t fun. how did you do that?”
“oh, i just strained it at practice.” mike shrugged, “my doctor didn’t seem too worried. i just need rest and maybe a cortisone shot.”

“you shouldn’t have strained your arm then.” del shrugged lightly as he watched the boy.”well, it was indiana. the only good indiana think i have ever heard of is indiana jones. but look, one thing about the arm is that you now know you have a limit and need to keep it toned below that limit. so don’t be like well, my arm is feeling kind of funky. so i guess that means i can totally over throw my arm and make that sixty yard pass.”
“thank you, dr. keller,” mike replied, rolling his eyes. he kissed the blond’s cheek, eyeing him slightly, “i missed you.”

“i guess it was just general wear and tear but... it sucks.” mike shrugged, “football can do that to ya, i guess.”

ding. it was the sound that caused sparky’s heart to thud in his chest. another hateful text. the texts hurt less than the fists, but not by much & at least it wasn’t a threat, either. surely, those were to come. the boy didn’t want to be alone, even though astro was clicked onto the leash in sparky’s phoneless hand. he tried to pull a facade, hand shaking as he slid his phone into the pocket of his shorts. “hey, do you wanna do something?” he struggled a smile to the nearest person he knew well enough. “i bought a box set of the bring it on movies. all five. we could watch them all, and then rate which one is the best.”
“of course. you know i’m a sucker for those movies,” mike told his brother, smiling. “besides, i’m supposed to be sitting out of practice so...”

eventhough he loved college life, nate was still a very family orientated guy so whenever he could, he’d just drive home during the week to spend some time with them and to basically catch up on what has been going on in his siblings’ lives. he wasn’t the oldest but was still very protective over them all. raiding the kitchen cabinets and grabbing some soda cans from the fridge, he headed up to his brother’s room, trying not to drop anything on the way there or his parents’ would kill him for making a mess. as his hands were full, he kicked mike’s door a few times, hoping he was in and not at practise as that would be a waste of all the snacks he had taken from downstairs. “my dear brother, please open the door as i’m not sure how long i can carry all of this…” he spoke through the door. @mikesncw
after practice, mike had headed home to shower and work on some homework, while lounging in his bed. it was a long day for the boy; he was sore from practice and needed to pack for his trip. he jumped slightly when he heard nate’s voice, “coming!” he stood to open the door, “jesus, did you bring the whole kitchen?”
“so, indiana was... the opposite of lit.” mike wrinkled his nose, yanking at the uncomfortable black sling on his arm. “plus, i strained the shit out of my arm, so i’m supposed to wear this dumb thing. send help.”

“This is going to make me sound so weird, but I’m actually not a huge hot fudge fan.”
“what? hot fudge is the best!”

abi couldn’t help but feel a pang in her heart for her son. he’d been going through far too much for a kid his age. between the loss of his grandmother, moving to a new city and the struggle of losing a mother figure, abi’s ex. , jak was starting to act out more than usual. in public. he was five now, and it certainly wasn’t cute anymore. he’d been loudly going on and on about how he missed lauren, the ex. before abi could get two words out the kid threw a the nearest object to him: a water bottle. not even checking to make sure it didn’t hit anyone, the mother shot jak a glare before realization set in. the bottle. turning to another person. “he didn’t get you, did he?” a look to the child, “jak, what do you say??” pause. “i’m not sorry.” said jak.
mike smiled sympathetically, “if it makes you feel better, i think i did the same thing when i was five. or so i’m told.”

“Is it weird if I order ice cream and get rainbow sprinkles and chocolate sprinkles as my two toppings?”
“i mean, personally, i’d go for some hot fudge, but yours doesn’t sound bad.”

“it was more fun to do that.” he stated, planting another kiss on the boy’s lips before pulling away to look forward once more.
“you’re a tease, del.” mike yawned slightly, looking at the boy, “honestly, i think all our dates should be naps from here on out.”

nova giggled, scrunching up her nose as mike spoke. “I know he’s just trying to be supportive, but it’s so annoying and embarrassing when he does stuff like that. he wore a shirt with my face on it when he came to visit me, and I basically had to rip it off of him.”
mike smiled, nodding, “he’s so cute though. we’re flying out so i can do my recruiting visit to notre dame and he’s stocked up on apparel. and facts. he has so many god damn facts memorized.”
