mike wheeler, the straight man who looks absolutely delighted in the presence of heterosexual flirting
What is the meaning of international law at this point when some countries are allowed complete impunity to do whatever they want without consequences
glad to see people enjoying the gay sex hockey show but get you facts rights HBO has nothing to do with this it's a beautiful Crave original funded by the Canadian gov and paid for with my taxes đŤľ
i feel genuinely so bad for people who are convinced by conformitygate. because you guys are geniuses, you're so persevering and smart and we all deserved better.. but babygirl i need you to take a deep breath for a second. spend some time with your friends, move on, try your best to find better shows. you were not delusional for shipping byler and for expecting a great season,, but you have too much trust in the duffers' writing đâ
girl they're cishet racist homophic incel middle aged white men. your theory makes so much more sense than the actual ending but they're just too lobotomized to write something so good. don't get your hopes up for a second finale, this show is mainstream it's genuinely impossible đ im so sorry, at least that's what i believe
Me and the object im trying to pick up while my nail polish is still drying
Now that the Duffers have confirmed that it is strongly implied Robin and Vickie broke up in the epilogue, can we finally talk about what that really means?
The only openly queer couple in the entire seriesâa relationship that was largely developed off-screenâwas used solely as a narrative device. Not as a love story in its own right, not as something allowed to exist and grow, but as a tool for Willâs arc, and more cruelly, as a mirror held up to him to show the love he would never be permitted to have this season.
Their very first scene together, in episode one, is intimate: they are kissing, touching, existing in tenderness. And Will watches them with quiet longing, with that unmistakable ache of recognitionâthe desire not just to be seen, but to be loved like that. Robinâs friendship with Will did matter, of course. It guided him toward self-acceptance, reminded him he was not alone, offered him a glimpse of a possible future. But the moment Will comes out, that friendship is quietly erased. They stop interacting. We are not even granted a glimpse of it in the epilogue.
That absence speaks louder than any dialogue. It proves that Robin and Vickie were never meant to exist beyond their usefulness. Once Willâs arc was âcomplete,â they were discarded. And it becomes even more disturbing when you realize the show had the audacity to use Tammy as a narrative excuse to dismantle Byler.
Robin and Vickie were used to give false hopeâto Will, and to the audience who longed for Byler to become real. And once the season was over, once that hope had served its purpose, the writers broke them up. They are the only couple to end that way. Even Nancy and Jonathanâwho also broke upâare, according to the Duffers themselves, destined to find their way back to each other in time.
So letâs be clear: The only canon queer couple was used to offer false hope to the only canon gay boy, whose feelings were then exploited to prop up a heterosexual relationshipâand all of it was for nothing, because that heterosexual couple was ruined anyway.
And this doesnât exist in a vacuum.
The Duffers have now revealed alternative endings they considered for Eleven. Aside from her suicide, the other option they entertained was keeping her alive, no longer hunted by the governmentâbut married at eighteen to Mike. Those were the two imagined futures.
Think about that.
For a girl who was exploited throughout her childhood in a laboratory. Who never had a childhood at all. Who spent her life being hunted, controlled, used. Who was kissed at twelveâsix days after escaping captivityâwhen she barely understood what the word âfriendâ meant and before she even knew her own real name. Who was abused, manipulated, and denied agency again and again by men.
The only futures the Duffers could imagine for her were death or marriageâa life still defined by a man, still orbiting male desire, still stripped of true autonomy. They never imagined a third path: Eleven alive, free, independent. Catching up on the childhood she was robbed of. Exploring the world. Traveling. Growing alongside the sister who truly understands her. Becoming a person before becoming someoneâs wife.
No. In their imagination, abused children and traumatized girls either disappearâor settle.
And queer love? Queer love is allowed to exist only long enough to teach a gay boy that he may never have it.
("but it's okay since he had self-acceptance, why he would have both ? lol")
Once it has served that lesson, it is erased.
What we are left with is not tragedyâit is ideology. A story where heterosexual endings are endlessly protected, repaired, and forgiven, while queer ones are treated as temporary metaphors. A world where growth is permitted only if it leads back to conformity, and where hope is dangled just long enough to hurt when it is taken away.
And that, more than any monster or Upside Down, is the real horror of this ending.
not sure if this has been shared here but i saw this somewhere and i legit screamed holy shit
they should've kept making home alone movies with the same protagonist so as he gets older it gets increasingly less impressive that he's been left home alone. by 2025 they release home alone 12 and it's adult macaulay culkin having a normal one while two elderly gentlemen try to steal from his mailbox and get vaporized by his door camera.
You really know youâre a bad writer if the only thing that makes the ending of your show make sense is a fan theory that the finale episode was a hallucination created by the showâs villain and that thereâs a secret extra episode where the real ending happens
Mike writes books. Will illustrates them. They both don't know who's who, since they both use pseudonyms. But they both think: fuck, why does he convey how I feel so perfectly? But one day, the publisher invites them both to a joint presentation of the last book in the series.
That's it, leave me alone.
michael..
mike wheeler wearing plastic vampire teeth and talking about plunging his teeth into willâs throat in the finale d&d campaignâŚthe queer subtext of vampiresâŚvampires embodying repressed desiresâŚvampires challenging heterosexual normsâŚi canât do this rn
Hot take: I don't care if someone "contributes to society" or not. They are a person and still deserve human rights, food, and shelter.
And medical care. Because living is kind of hard without it.
ive said it before but heated rivalry really is an artistic masterpiece as far as proving to what extent you can push a small budget & limited time if you have the creativity & talent.
the way ilya & shane GENUINELY look older thru subtle hair & costume changes in each episode to show the 10 years passing...when this whole thing was shot in 37 days
ilya's accent getting fainter & fainter over time, except when he's super emotional. which is so natural & a subtle thing to think abt...but they block shot the whole series. out of order. did he fucking write an accent percentage at the top of every script?? like jesus wtf
and its gotta just be the makeup bc even when you look past the obviously perfectly acted mannerisms of youth & being older that hudson & connor did, genuinely cannot explain how they PHYSICALLY show less baby face from ep 1 to ep 6. its gotta be also partially the way their holding their faces..
heated rivalry is a masterpiece through & through. can't believe my eyes & ears when i see this show, and with every rewatch i'm just more amazed w each new detail i notice. even the set & props are true to each year the phone models for example, like a period piece. absolutely incredible.
