Conformitygate was a fun idea but I stand on the fact that the real reason all the costuming, set design, lighting and everything still reflects Byler is actually because Stranger Things is full of passionate artists and nerds who, in being that.....do not agree with how The Duffers ended the show.
And said "fuck this, dress him like his dad if you wanna give him that ending" "he hangs Will's painting over his bed actually fuck you, and it's right below his one way sign for an extra fuck you".
It wasn't the Duffers commenting on this. It was every passionate artist who loved this story so much and actually understood the characters, doing everything in their power to send the message through the screen everything from "this is ending is a dystopia" to "Byler are still endgame" or whatever each thing hints at. It's not theory or hint. It's spite.
Everything in their power to either imply the right ending is still out there for them in the future, or acknowledge that this is not it. Make that shit blue and yellow. Hang that painting above his bed. And if you're gonna write him into a conformist hellscape, I'm gonna dress him the way I did every time he was miserable and identical to the character who represents misery in conformity.
It wasn't a promise of a better ending. It was a fuck you to this one.

Why is the tower not red anymore? Is it green or grey?
Weāve already discussed that Mikeās hair looks different; the sky is also not blue and becomes cloudy in some shots, and I can assume that itās either an error orrr different timelines in one scene. But actually hereās mb more, so look:
Mikeās hair changes right after āTurn off the scary movieā, the next line here is the next shot āProtect your momā. We see that they filmed hell of a pile of shots there as his hair changes again (pic 4), but for some reason never to the 1st look where his fringe didnāt open the forehead (it looked like that since the beginning of the scene to the pic 3).
So I might assume that they just were filming for hours as the sky changes, the light too, but Mikeās fringe for real changes like a lot and then keeps staying this way even having a bit changed again.
here š you can compare the sun shining from another angle, but there are shots of Murray, Robin and Lucas where the sun is shining from different angles too, and it probably doesnāt change the scene ā if itās not another timeline compilationā¦ Bc I can understand that they needed to reshoot something, but these two Sesame shots were so short (litrly one shot after another), that Iām not sure that it wasnāt done on purpose idk.
So back to my question: why is the tower green?
I attached different angles and different parts of the one scene: pic 1 is from 5x01, four others, you know, 5x04. But pics 3 and 4 are from before and after Mikeās fringe changes. It doesnāt look red regardless. Is it the play of light? But why are pic 2 and pic 3 do different having blue sky in both? (If it had orange sky, I could get it, like in pic 4 where the light is indeed different. But why before??). So the tower was red in the first (wide) shot in the beginning of the scene, but it becomes greenish after? wtf š but maybe it means absolutely nothing
