Hello I can’t stop thinking about the Misha situation. I’m so angry at Kazfed on his behalf. Are they TRYING to fumble an Olympic champion?????? BECAUSE THIS IS HOW YOU FUMBLE AN OLYMPIC CHAMPION.
What do you mean they haven’t paid him for five months????? What do you mean he’s training 4-4 combos without access to a doctor??? What do you mean they’re trying to make him contractually obligated to medal again???????
Misha’s win was exciting in part because he’s the only OGM I can think of who won at a time in his career where he so obviously had plenty of room to grow and many more things to achieve — he’s nowhere near his peak, and I thought his victory would get him the resources he needs to improve his components, work with a world-class choreographer, not have to worry about training costs, etc. Instead he’s having to fight for the bare minimum just as he’s done his entire career. It’s frustrating as a fan, so I can’t even begin to imagine how he feels.
The way he’s being treated by his fed would be unacceptable even if he WASN’T their first-ever figure skating gold medalist and one of the best skaters their country has ever produced. Given that he IS, it’s almost comically evil.
And to rub salt in the wound, this is all being done to him by the country that he absolutely adores and is so proud to represent. All he’s ever wanted is to make his homeland proud and win FOR Kazakhstan so that other Kazakhstani kids don’t have to struggle like he has struggled. And this is how they treat him. Unbelievable.
