and the saddest thing is, it’s true. not just an occasional fact, but every fucking day there are people who jam pack kids into their houses and abuse them, who are basically state baby sitters who juggle kids around.

and in the meantime loving same sex couples with time and warmth and happiness and honest to god wanting to be parents are turned away by the state because the old ass cunts that make up the government kill the chance.

This post really hit home with me as both of my younger sisters are adopted. The youngest was only a few months old at the time we filed to adopt her, but the oldest was four, only a few moths younger than me, at the time. The oldest had been put in foster care for a good year as she waited for adoption, and while the youngest was placed with a lovely and caring foster family, she was not so lucky. By the time all had been said and done and we were finally the legal family of my two little sisters, the oldest had been permanently changed. She had never been taught to speak or read and most of her teeth were either missing or capped due to the fact that she wasn’t supervised and often fell and hurt herself. The worst thing that foster family did was not feed her properly as it severely affects her to this day. She hides food and steals, trusting no one and always fearing for a day when she will be hungry again. My sister is now 12 years old, it has been eight years. I look at her sometimes with such sadness as I can just imagine how free and happy she would be if she didn’t have such a traumatic early experience. Now her mental heath and overall well-being have to pay. Why, America? Why did you ruin my poor little sister? Hopefully, she will someday learn to trust people and harness all of her other mental disabilities that came with her early-life trauma, but it will take much work from me and my whole family. Many more stressful days. I know for fact that there are many loving families out there who could’ve fostered my sister much better if certain unneccecary regulations weren’t in place.
