Bekket: well i guess whatever works for you

Bekket: hes got a lot of internalized misogony and toxic masculinity going on and is super emotionally constipated and kind of a dick and really overly aggressive sometimes, but every now and again he'll be really sweet and fun and I enjoy hanging out with him for the most part, and I'm trying to like... work with it. But also I'm scared to come out to him. and also he's in the closet to his family.

Mila: Ugh. No, you're right, the radio silence is driving me crazy.

Mila: Screw that. Nobody needs that kind of emotional whiplash. Has he gotten any better?

It feels really good. I’ve always hated the idea of that book being my first because it talks about something so tragic and sad and awful that I cried for days after. Reading that note, knowing that somewhere in all that sadness, she found hope made me look at it with fresh eyes so I read it. And I have to say, I think she was on to something. 

Is that part of the normal process for authors? To hate the idea of something you wrote?

Some of what she does is childish, petty behavior from her that doesn’t deserve the time of day, but some of it’s been harassing and negligent. Most of what she does has got nothing to do with her being some kind of monitor and I’m sick of hearing about it with nothing more than complaining being done.  

Fair enough. I haven’t had to deal with her much to have an opinion, but I’m in favor of someone actually doing something instead of just complaining.

Does anyone know how to get over a fear of noises? My neighbour - god knows what he is doing - has noises which sounds like a balloon popping or a firework going off. And that’s fine, but I jump every time I hear it and I’m just not comfortable.

White noise machines help some, but I don’t know if they’d be as effective with sudden loud noises. Have you tried talking to your neighbor or your landlord?

First Impressions || Mila & Raquel

“Yes, they’re not home at the moment.” Thank god. “They left not too long ago to run some errands.” Which meant she had a couple of hours to play with until they returned; plenty of time to get to know Mila and have her leave safely. “I hid the letter from them when it came.” Raquel admitted sheepishly as she toyed with her glass of juice. “I know it sounds childish, but, I mean, I…I didn’t expect to be paired with another….er, woman.” Hence her initial reaction to reading the contents of the letter. 

Raquel’s mood perked up at the mention of baking. “Thank you. Yes I do! And I cook, sew, and dabble in pottery. I have a lot of time on my hands. I have no official job or anything.” she laughed, awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck. “What do you do? For a living and whatnot.”

Hearing that Raquel still lived with her parents wasn’t what Mila had been expecting, but it did explain the house and the neighborhood. “Got it,” she nodded lightly before something the other said caught her attention. “Hang on, why didn’t you expect to be paired with a woman? If it’s a legit mistake and you’re straight, you could try to make a case for them to re-match you.” Her eyebrows furrowed as she regarded Raquel. If they all had to get married to a stranger, the least the government could do was get that part correct. 

“Do you actually enjoy doing all of that? Or is it just stuff to kill time?” Mila was aware she was probably coming off too bluntly, but the concept of not working was so foreign to her that she had to ask. She took a sip of her drink as she weighed how to answer Raquel’s question. She wasn’t ashamed of her job, far from it, but she hated the judgment that almost always came when people found out what she did. Still, it was a direct question and she didn’t see the point in lying or trying to evade it. “I’m a stripper.”

Well I am an author so its kind of in my job description. It was a sappy note praising me for giving her a reason to live and I didn’t know how to handle myself for hours afterwards. 

Yeah, that’s what I was going for. That’s really cool of whoever left it, though. It’s got to be nice knowing you made that kind of difference in someone’s life.

Ah, I guess I always assumed they’d provide for you,  like a Broadway show would.  I guess it’s a little different, hm? Yea, that’s awesome! And if something’s itchy or uncomfortable, you don’t have to be forced to wear it. Did you end up deciding on a costume?

As far as assumptions about strip clubs go, I can’t say that’s one I’ve heard before. The clothes really aren’t bad or uncomfortable, it’s just the shoes that are killer. I did! I ended up going with the whole Slave Leia thing one night and Scary Spice the other, but I’m pretty sure people didn’t get the second reference.

Bekket: tell me everything please

Bekket: how old is she?

Mila: She's 22.

Mila: It's not really as exciting as you're probably thinking. She ignored my texts trying to get in touch with her for pretty much a day, I went to the address on the letter - which was apparently her parents' place - we met, her parents came in, and she made me hide to avoid having to tell them she's into girls. So that was a thing that happened.

Mila: So what's the deal with your match? Have you gotten your letter yet?

Anyone else sick of just talking about how terrible, unprofessional and downright twisted Gia is? I’d like to actually do something about it and I intend to. Wouldn’t mind having more evidence against her gathered up than I’ve already got though.

What did she do this time? I feel like she’s usually just trying to get a reaction out of people and it’s not worth stressing over, but I guess it was just a matter of time before she pushed someone too far.
