good morning to everyone except skyler white haters
how this episode should have gone:
-Dany, still reeling from the shock and grief of her best friend’s death, learns of Varys’s betrayal
-They hold a proper trial where Varys is found guilty of treason and subsequently executed. This is highly emotionally taxing for everyone involved.
-Tyrion goes to Jaime and asks him for help removing Cersei peacefully, since he has fears about Dany’s state of mind. Jaime agrees, and they hatch a plan where he sneaks into the red keep and pretends to still love Cersei, appealing to her as a mother rather than a queen.
-Jaime asks Tyrion to tell Brienne that he loves her
-Dany flies on King’s Landing while Grey Worm, Jon, and Davos assemble their armies outside the gates.
-Dany takes out the iron fleet and the scorpions on the walls. When she sees the Lannister troops surrender, she flies straight for the red keep to confront Cersei
-The whole thing with Arya and the Hound goes down exactly as it did
-Jaime manages to convince Cersei to leave with him, and they are at the little shore at the bottom of the staircase when Euron shows up. Cersei turns against Jaime and orders Euron to kill her brother
-Euron and Jaime fight it out, much like they did in the episode. Jaime wins, but knows he cannot continue to live. Finally forced to confront what Cersei has become he kills her, before succumbing to his injuries and dying at her side
-Dany attacks the red keep, believing that Cersei is still inside and unwittingly sparks up the wyldfire, which sets off chain reactions across the city, causing irreparable damage and carnage
-We see Arya trying to get out of the path of destruction, much as she did during the episode
-Grey Worm, Jon, and Davos organize their troops to help people out of the city and rescue them from the fires. They are forced to make terrible decisions during this. We see Grey Worm allowing a few people to die in order to rescue a larger group of people, Davos must leave someone behind because he can’t reach them in the rubble, Jon commits a mercy killing for someone who is too injured to survive
-Cleganebowl goes down almost exactly as it did in the episode, but instead of falling into fire they just fall onto pavement. Arya finds the Hound dying a slow horrible death and he asks her to kill him. This time she agrees and gives him a swift, painless death, waiting at his side while he dies
-Much as the prophecy foretold, we see Dany walking into the throne room alone while it rains ash. She nearly reaches the throne when she hallucinates Drogo and their son off to the side (again, like the prophecy). She runs to him and admits that she thinks she is going mad. Drogo reminds her that she must be stronger than the madness. She must recognize it wherever she can and fight to get past it.
-Dany says a tearful goodbye to Drogo, finally letting him go, and takes the iron throne. The last shot is of her sitting tall and proud, but if you look closely you can see her hands shake a little.
Mbti problems
Why is it so hard to type oneself? I’ve changed my mind several times about what type I am and which of the functions I use and the stereotypes surrounding each type do not help
“There’s no such thing as bi, YOU’RE GAY.”
Every single bi person and bi supporter reblog this to prove to my brother he’s a fucking dumbass
Daily reminder: There would be nothing subversive, unique, or new about a medieval story in which all the women who get power go mad. There would be nothing unique about Cersei being an evil queen - and then SURPRISE the other main woman in power ALSO becomes an evil queen! Because power corrupts absolutely; but only if you have a vagina! There would be nothing subversive about the woman who was raped, abused, and had a life of suffering, who is one of the few characters interested in fighting for the smallfolk/those in chains, ending up evil and killed by the first person who she has truly been in love with and trusted. There would be nothing unique about yet another woman suffering and sacrificing, being a tool for tragedy fodder, and then dying so that random men or the ‘innocent younger girl’ taking something she has sought her entire life.
What could be subversive or unique is the idea that she gets rid of the Iron Throne - they get rid of feudalism and monarchy, they instill elected councils, the lords and ladies are servants of the people, not rulers. Dany gets her house with a red door, and continues to break chains and advocate for people, she has given up the search for power because she realized all she wanted was a place to belong, a place to feel safe.
Killing yet another woman who ‘goes mad’ with power would just be so fucking lazy I would have to pretend that 8.3 was the last episode of the series. I really would hope GRRM isn’t such a lazy writer with such misogynistic tropes.
Regression
In a stunning level of stupidity D and D have regressed the majority of the characters back to season 1.
You have Daenerys who is alone apart from one family member who is supposed to love her but isn’t doing a good job of showing it.
You have Jon who believes honor is essential and all his family has it and would never lie to him.
You have Sansa who is so focussed on herself and her desire for power that she’ll screw even her own family over.
You have Arya who doesn’t want to be a lady and wants to kill a Lannister more than she wants anything else.
You have Bran who’s basically in a coma and isn’t really doing anything.
You have Jamie who is willing to go any length to protect Cersei and their kid/s.
You have Cersei who is pretending Jamie’s kid is someone else’s so they’re protected from an ass that would kill them both if he found out it wasn’t his.
You have Tyrion who has too much faith in his family and drinks all the time.
You have Varys who is quietly plotting to unseat his current monarch with a Targaryen.
You have Missandei in chains.
To have years and years of character progression wiped out in the space of a few episodes is a crime. And it breaks my damn heart.
“Fan fiction is a way of the culture repairing the damage done in a system where contemporary myths are owned by corporations instead of by the folk.”
— Henry Jenkins (Director of media studies at MIT)
I don’t get what your problem with sansa is. She has been right about everything. Dany is unfit to rule and she saw it coming when Jon was blinded with love. By telling tyrion she’s probably saved the realm from another tyrant
She’s been right about what exactly?
