Hypothetically do you think the Marvel or DC universe exists within the dispatch universe? Not as in them really existing in the same universe, but existing like they do in our universe, as fiction. I can see Herm being totally obsessed with both real and fictional heroes like Mecha Man and Captain America, but other Z-Team-ers like Flambae thinking they make a mockery of real supers.

Also silly parallels where within this universe Iron Man would seem like a total Mecha Man rip off... Sorry I'm just rambling in ur asks with no idea if any of this interests you lmao 💔

Better question, would the events that these fictional heroes were built around even happen the same way or at all if it took place in a world with real heroes.

Captain America was created in WW2 to get kids excited about war efforts. I wonder how events like these would play out if we had people with special abilities.

Herm as a kid would love Iron Man, then when learning about Mecha Man, he would just fall in love. Plus it would be a cool thought that Iron Man is based off of Mecha Man just a bit in this universe.

I think he would also love X-Men, mainly because he relates to the people in it who resent their powers. Warren always made me sad.

Is it established when or exactly why SDN was founded? I don't think it would be that outlandish to say in this hypothetical it started as a military exclusive program, calling in heroes for backup or special tasks. I can see this idea being redirected through the counter culture/anti war movements in the 60s, making SDN what it is today.

Also, Herm making his own Halloween costumes as a kid, making a million iterations of the same Iron Man suit out of cardboard because it keeps getting too soggy to wear. Maybe he wears a raincoat underneath it on Halloween night to prevent some of his water from seeping through, but it still drips from his face and hands onto the cardboard.

I think we need more geeky Waterboy head canons, he'd love comic con, and if he had enough saved up he'd go see panels of his favorite real superheroes. Herm who loves comic books but can't buy any that are worth pretty much anything at risk of ruining them, so instead he finds them online or buys the cheapest ones he can find. Herm who loves Pokemon cards but has someone else open the packs and place them carefully into his waterproofed binder. Herm who loves playthroughs of video games because he's too fearful of ruining expensive consoles by trying to play himself. Or alternatively, Herm who sits behind you watching you play video games while you chat.
