yesterday I went out with my friend and her husband. It was my first time since my brothers death and funeral that I got the energy to actually go out. Even doing my makeup and getting ready was such a chore but I wanted to make the effort.

Whole time her husband was saying things like, “WELL, at least he isn’t suffering anymore” which I guess is true. But he’s dead, I rather have him here. And honestly he is pretty dumb and has said things that are so tone deaf. He doesn’t realize he is privileged and just because someone is not doing so well doesn’t mean you have to provide a solution for them every time, ESPECIALLY when it comes to grieving.

My sister did clap back and said well, just imagine if you lost your brother. His dumbass proceeds to say that it’s different, because him and his brother are actually close and talk every day. My brother was a drug addict, so we did not have the best or closest relationship. It doesn’t mean I don’t love him or that it wouldn’t affect me. I still have memories with him.

Sooo clearly I was exhausted and needed to go home early. So much for a night out. ANYWAYS, if you have anyone going through grief, just take them out and listen to them. You don’t have to give them advice or a Ted talk for them to feel better, I promise you
