Spoilers for Mahiru’s Case file
What do you mean the theory that Mahiru and her boyfriend actually ran off into the woods was correct… and that the scene of them eating the rats was literal, not symbolic. I’m not necessarily against this twist, but I am absolutely floored by it. I know some people theorized that she kidnapped her boyfriend and brought him to the forest, but it seems like only the latter half was confirmed. But it’s not entirely clear, since we don’t get any input from him. He’s evidently unhappy with the situation, but was it his choice? I think this underdevelopment of the victim is one of my largest confusions with this case, though I do understand it from a story perspective. Mahiru romanticized their relationship, believing that he shares the same, all-consuming “love” she feels. So it makes sense that we don’t know his side of the story, as his only purpose to Mahiru is as a vessel to give and receive affection.
I’ve also noticed a trend in these third trials where there is some key detail(s) that are revealed, and those reveals are often out of left field. (Muu’s fall from grace occuring due to her vomiting after getting decked by a chair, Shidou’s killing of the trucker that hit his family) Yet most of these reveals retroactively make sense and could have been picked up on prior to their reveals. (Notably,Yuno’s miscarriage via accidentally falling down a flight of stairs). In Mahiru’s case, I would say it’s her arranged marriage. We could infer that she was fairly affluent, but the detail about her having a fiancé was unpredictable to me, though it does explain much of her shelteredness toward romance.
Finally, I thought her last moments with Yuno were so sad, and the most profound out of the three scenes we saw. She gave so much grace to the prisoners + Es by refusing to complain or blame anyone else in the face of certain death. And her last words about her wanting to have a baby in front of Yuno of all people is just so mournfully ironic, and explains a lot of Yuno’s behavior during her trial.
My pet wolf defends me from attackers, plus everyone else. He just attacks everyone.
Im not gonna lie, I’m a bit disappointed with the writing of Muu’s case. Specifically, about the cause of her fall from grace. I had a couple ideas of why her friends could’ve turned their backs on her, mostly her having dark secrets be revealed somehow (ranging from secretly being poor to being a lesbian/crushing on Rei). And then in the MV we discover it’s… Rei decked Muu with a chair and she threw up? Like, I get that it’s showing how precarious Muu’s social standing was, and how breaking that perfect image of her made everyone hate her. I think that’s all fine and dandy, but it’s almost comedic in a way? When I first watched the MV I assumed it was some sort of metaphor until the report confirmed it.
pain 🐝 MILGRAM — muu kusunoki, the third trial
Fuuta, you really Brought It On with your performance in the voice drama, which truly exceeded our expectations. On the other hand, your music video, while technically impressive, failed to make the judges say Appare. I’m sorry my darling, but I fear it is time for you to sashay away.
its crazy when i like a female character and i think well she’s clearly flawed but at least she’s interesting :) and then i make the fatal mistake of witnessing other people’s opinions on the subject and find out that the consensus amongst fans is that she’s an irredeemable demon bitch from hell
haha whaaat...its not her fault...wdym
I find it interesting how Life is extremely direct and to the point compared to all the other prisoners songs. It makes a lot of sense why it’s this way as well because at the beginning she straight up acknowledges the audience and that this is the last trial, so to her there’s no point or care in hiding what happened anymore and she’s directly upfront about everything. She can’t forgive herself, and hates the idea that Es is forgiving her only out of pity, so she wants our honest opinion with everything that happened in her life on out verdict wether to forgive. And I feel like the verdict should be very clear by now, I hope after milgram Yuno can learn to accept herself perhaps just a bit more.
🏳️🌈 happy pride month to Kazui from Milgram specifically because he‘s on the LGBTQIA wiki despite it not being 100% confirmed yet
