Atari game manufacturer Activision made badges for members of their fan club, some of which were only given when a certain game goal, record, or high score was achieved.

In late 2000, Nintendo teamed up with MediaBrowser to offer free branded Internet Explorer skins- a briefly trendy idea. The Majora’s Mask skin seen in this ad was one of the first. 

MediaBrowser went bankrupt ~1 year later when the dotcom bubble burst, ending this experiment.

Nintendo has discontinued the Nintendo 3DS system

Nintendo has now discontinued the popular Nintendo 3DS system. The Japanese website says “out of production” on each Nintendo 3DS product page. The North American Nintendo website has erased all mention of the system. It seems that Nintendo is now completely focussed on Nintendo Switch . Source
