Nothing tastes as good as having toes feels (but having diabetes has made me hate clean eating even more)Ā https://nicmillerstales.com/2017/06/13/why-diabetes-has-made-me-detest-clean-eating-even-more/

Roasted banana, malted milk and spelt cake.Ā
I was just a boy when I sat down To watch the news on TV I saw some ordinary slaughter I saw some routine atrocity My father said, don't look away You got to be strong, you got to be bold, now He said, that in the end it is beauty That is going to save the world, now
Iām so fucking tired of wholesome food-writing. Hereās Jim Harrison, the fucking king, being kingly in the kitchen. Put down your goddamn mobile phone and pick up a marlboro instead.

I've written about oyster soup and its importance in the American literary scene.

What I learned in 2015: that so many broadsheet and magazine journalists do not understand that the āvaginaā is not a catch all term for female genitalia. Countless articles and books where waxing is mentioned refer to vaginas when anyone with any recollection of biology will tell you that you do not wax a vagina. Feminist treatise on waxing and pubic hair are undermined when their author demonstrates such a poor grasp of physiology and it doesnāt help people learn the correct terminology which is- pussy, muff, mini and sacred yoni asides - sometimes required.
If your vagina is lined with fur then maybe you might have to wax it but as a rule, we wax our mons pubis/vulva/perineum (the latter if the hair strays a bit) and not the vagina which is the conduit between the outside world and the cervix and thence on, the uterus.Ā

Is it wrong to pierce a babies ears? In this piece, I write about my experience of having my ears as a small child and the impact this had. As a small child, I was moved to a Central American couā¦

Why Iām not ashamed that I love Supertramp

Itās the music of school exchange trips to France, of waving goodbye to French boys who spent their summers wooing starry-eyed English girls. We chased Fabrice, Jean-Paul and Thierry without shame or reservation, wearing the candy-striped seersucker pants we bought at Monoprix. Goodbye Stranger was the theme song of those summers
In 2009, I fell in love with an Englishman whilst on a vintage car rally in Sicily. We got married and in 2010 I moved from Los Angeles to London. Enter Claire Ptak into my life. Perhaps not imme...
Misti Traya moved to London from Los Angeles and this post talks about how she found her roots in a little East London bakery called Violet.Ā
I remember my own terrible homesickness and loss of sense of place when I moved back here as a kid after living in Mexico. Homesickness really is the worst feeling. When I moved to London as a young woman, I remember looking up at the high ceiling of my Victorian groundfloor flat and feeling myself shrink to nothing underneath it. I had always lived in bijou cottages in the country where one dipped ones head to cross a threshold-and I am only five foot one! It took ages to get used to the contrast between the lack of space outside and the vastness of those ceilings inside, the total opposite to Suffolk, in fact
When we told my father that he was to become a grandfather for the first time, he blurted out, āitās not like a rabbit, you know. You canāt just leave it in a hutchā which, as a lesson in parenting, rankled at the time seeing as he once ate one of my childhood pet rabbits.
My latest Bury Free Press column: That time my father ate my rabbit and other bunny related events.Ā
