INTERESTS RATE: 100%
Reigen will be owing these kids money till he's forty...but this is what happens when the bank refuses you 7 times in a row
Cut early
Hmmm well...I have drawn nothing today despite the free time. Reigen, use a rubber next time. I'm not watching shit.
TFW you realize the kid you spent 6 months trying to force into beast mode is a certified #FAKEDEMON and you genuinely should've just adopted Ritsu instead
This scene is so important to the Mogami arc, it ties the whole thing together, and I'm so sad the anime cut it out. In the anime, it felt lackluster, and though I'm not 100% satisfied with the way the manga handled it either, it's better than Anime Mob's speech of "Okay your life sucks but mine's chill so...Lol. #MogamiMoreLikeMogged"
Mogami cannot accept change. Despite his pretense of wanting to change the world, all he seeks is revenge. Change isn't enough for Mogami, and it'll never be enough unless he manages to chase his own self-hatred. Here we have Minori, terrified of Mob and ready to back down- but that's not enough. He wants her lynched. So much so that he'll possess her to make her worse than she already is, in an attempt to prove his point. That resentment and punishment is the only way.
But all this creates is a world of endless retribution. There is no forgiveness or redemption to be found in Mogami's world, and so all he's really doing is lashing out. It doesn't teach the abusers anything, and it doesn't give the victims anything either, beyond a very, very shallow satisfaction- proven by the fact Mogami cannot move on, no matter how many people he hurts. Mob understands this when he snaps out of it, and that's all it takes to save himself and Minori from this cycle.
Instead of punishing her, he reaches out with compassion. Minori may or may not deserve it, but that's not what matters. What matters is that Mob doesn't lower himself down to that level, doesn't let himself be blinded by the same hate that blinded Mogami, Minori, and any other abuser into lashing out at the world. He sees the world for what it is, he can see beyond his environment now...and it's a really powerful message, I think.
I didn't understand/interpret this from the anime version though, mainly because Mogami's influence was somewhat toned down. I'm really happy to revisit the whole story using the manga, it gives me a fresh outlook on those things.
Is it a reach to say that the Separation Arc is a Reigen VS Ritsu parallel?
It's really fun to see Reigen lashing out at Dimple and Mob (in his mind) because he suddenly develops an inferiority complex towards him. Meanwhile Ritsu lashed out at the world for the very same reason, except Reigen's descent was kickstarted when he lost control, unlike Ritsu who really began spiraling after gaining power.
Then, Ritsu's first move upon gaining control was to attempt to separate himself from Mob. The separation was forced upon Reigen, and he didn't reach out of pride, but also fear. Not the same kind of fear as Ritsu felt but..well, there's a bit of similarity here regardless, no? Haha....and for both of them, the conclusion of the arc is that they need to be their own person, but it's possible to do so without rejecting Mob at every turn, either
Well, that's just something I thought was interesting to say while reading the manga. I enjoy noticing things that link grumpy Ritsu to smug Reigen, because they have a certain "that one older cousin you can't fucking stand" dynamic that I love.
if my little sister said this to me in middle school i would have laughed at her until i was in tears
why do i keep drawing dimple
A confession and a cross-examination
a little mobbu angst to kickstart the. Hmm it is 2 AM now. Alright goodnight folks
Am I... the drama?
Actual mug under the cut
There is mobzato as well today. She wanted him to like her so he'll say yes to being a cult leader but Mob is bad at taking hints but good at being a generally loveable person so she got a crush on him instead. I think the outcome of this ship is that they'll go on 3-4 dates together and hold hands but then Mezato gets bored because it's not like in the movies, and it doesn't feel any different from when they were just friends.
Also random stuff in my gallery
Coming out to nii-san
