âI think I need another, honestly,â she said, looking morosely down into her empty cup. âCâmon,â she said, walking over to where the alcohol was and expecting him to follow. âWell, both healed okay,â she said without much thought, not particularly bothered by the incident or discussing it now. âAnd I make no promises about how the night will unfold. Some of these people donât know how to behave.â Hypocritical of her to say, as she topped off her drink and offered the bottle to Milo, since she never knew how to act now that she was back among people. âIâll leave you alone this time?â she offered as an afterthought. âJust-donât get too into my space.â
âFair,â Milo said with a shrug, hesitating for only a moment before following her to the other end of the bar. These parties were always a bit more tolerable with a drink or two. âYeah, guess youâre right,â he said, a hand gently grazing the scratch left behind on his cheek, the only hint of their fight that could be seen tonight. âJust let me know if anyone bothers you, yeah? I think my parents would prefer it if there wasnât a fight, but I can kick âem out,â he said, a wary glance at the woman. Taking the bottle, he poured a generous amount into his cup before placing it back on the bar. âYeah, yeah. Sorry about last time. Didnât mean to, uh, you know,â he said, trailing off.Â
