He got invited to a lunch.
Not anything strange. They're practically a co-workers in the same academy and same generation. Even if he may be rising in rank of job faster than anyone, he didn't consider the other first years teachers as him as inferior. Having a lunch together in campus's cafetaria has become a routine to him, and way of socializing that just happened normally.
Rather than eating alone in his office, eating together with other colleagues teacher has become liberation. In another sense, he just enjoyed it more than he ever speak about it.
Everyone is colleagues, treated with respect and warm atmosphere.
Everyone talk and trying to get close to each other.
And he can't help but being oblivious
sometimes relationships with others.
Because he didn't mean anything or sought anything from them.
Having lifed a life with so many faces and names, a relationship that won't last long
With his luck that made his life turned upside down so sooner or later,
he had to leave never to be seen again anyway.
If he could maka a simple wish
He just want to bask in comfort of current life's peace.
Everything would be just another routine,
If only he could keep being oblivious and ignorant of occurrences.
No, not because of frequent teasing from other teacher when asking about *his* relationship topics. Or,
Subtly not subtle act of her friend everytime he and her in the same room of occurrence.
Not that.
After few more Invitation he can't help but notice.
How the invitation is only for two, not for a many colleagues.
How he got invited to lunch but missing people while at it, and he got roped too late to find the way out.
How he got frequent visit or daily conversation from the way of his class to his office.
Or how at party he got invited to be her dancing partner.
How he got invited to half promises to attend another campus's festival next year.
He became aware
And he became afraid
It will turn to worse
And just before he decided to mitigate the risk of getting another broken apple in his life...
She confessed to him. So.
There goes away the bliss of being ignorant and oblivious.
Her sincere heart is not for him. It's not right. He didn't deserve her. Nothing is accepted, and nothing is returned.
