Not a great race day, but the course and setting was phenomenal, the weather was perfect, and when I wanted to bail, I walked until I ran to the finish. Started too fast, too much caffeine, lost track of hydration (never ever say, I don't need water right now), and I just wasn't ready for it yet. Turns out eight weeks from basically nothing isn't enough for me to get in shape for an ultra. Who knew? 😉 The trail took a bit of my pride and probably a couple toenails (still hanging on, barely).
