The funny thing about blood+ that I absolutely adore is that despite its premise as an anime about a vampire girl with amnesia having to fight a bunch of giant bat monsters and kill her evil twin sister, it’s surprisingly really down to earth

However because of how down to earth it is, I get easily taken out of the moment when I see a character like Lulu appear with her purple anime hair or Karl with his hideous phantom costume

I’m on episode 11, and so far one of my favorite things about rewatching blood+ as an adult is realizing/noticing how much David has refused the fatherly call.

Like yeah his friend may have died, but he ain’t taking care of no kids today. He already got Saya’s angsty teenage bullshit to deal with (as she suffers through multiple mental break downs and identity crises episodes )

Oh, George’s kids decided to tag along with you to Vietnam? EZ no problem, and he just dumps them in a hotel by themselves with a credit card with no way to reach him or how to get back home

Oh George’s youngest son doesn’t know that his dad is dead and he’s not coping well? Well TOUGH TIDDIES, KID

I will give him credit tho, that the only remotely fatherly thing he has done was beat Kai’s ass in front of his remaining family. It sorta gave him a reality check

Blood plus might be an anime adaptation of Blood: the Last Vampire. It’s about a girl with amnesia who starts to remember she’s a badass vampire when werewolf creatures start attacking her town. It’s an amazing series that really stuck with me when I first saw it like 10 years go. I’m so happy to have found it again!

Why or what made that the anime Blood + wasn't popular (or probably as popular as it was planned) ?

Imo, it seemed a combination of slow and rather layered storytelling, paired with a female protagonist who didn't immediately take to her mission and kept experiencing (highly normal tbh) emotional and mental breakdowns. The series also tended to flip between styles and genres - a noir-ish horror mystery one moment, a heart warming slice of life the next, in a way that really wasn't everyone's cup of tea.

Keep in mind this was also 2006-2007, when shounen-style series with fast narration and heavy action were more popular, and also the era when we saw the release of behemoths like Death Note and Fate/Stay Night, not to mention a slew of other eventual classics. With all that competition, a series featuring a sweet schoolgirl who fights monsters would be easy to overlook 8')

I wouldn't be opposed to some of the costume choices being a little more modern... you can really tell that the anime is from the mid 2000s lmao

been using these reusable menstrual pads since november 2019 and im never going back to these commercial pads. commercial pads like these always gives me skin rashes which is so annoying. switch to reusable i swear you’ll not only be period-ready but also rashes-free!

Yeah, reusable pads were one of my first major eco-friendly changes but my body has been way happier that way. They are infinitely more comfortable and effective, and I just throw them in my washing machine on the hand wash + extra rinse and hang dry. I can’t say being on your period is ever pleasant, but it’s way better than before - ESPECIALLY in situations where you can’t change as often - and I don’t feel like the harbinger of the end of the world when I look at my restroom trash can anymore :)

Cariona pads (link above) are AWESOME. Don’t knock it til you try it - I’ll never go back to always pads. My period is, like, manageable, for the first time in my life. It is no longer a struggle with excruciating cramps, heavy bleeding, leakage, and looooong periods, but like, mild to medium cramps, and I HAVE A CYCLE AGAIN for the first time in years. Try it. The upfront cost is daunting, I understand, because I was worried I wouldn’t like them, but I’m SO GLAD I got them. Just toss them in bottom of your shower when you take them off, shower as usual, and then squeeze them out. That basically rinses them for you, and then they’re all set for the washer and dryer. You’ll thank yourself later; give it a try.

Cariona pads are amazing and they are SO cute. Like @maybeitsfinallytime was saying, they’re really easy to rinse out, and I usually hang them over my shower rod to dry so I can reuse them during the cycle, then give them a proper wash in hot water with a little sanitizing detergent afterwards.

UPDATE: I just ordered the trial pack. I personally have a lot of problems with excruciating cramps my cycle being consistent, especially in recent months after losing weight and medications and such. Hopefully these work well/help because I always feel guilty about the amount of waste normal pads create

Due to when the reusable pads I ordered arrived I ended up switching literally in the middle of my last period and the difference was instant, I’ve gotten really bad cramps for as long as I can remember and still did the first half this time around but I didn’t cramp at all wearing the reusable pads. I highly recommend the switch.

I bought the cariona pads too and oh my gosh. The difference. I went from painful cramps and headaches to just mild cramps for like a day. They are so easy to use and so comfortable.
