You've got some guts, telling people what goes on behind these doors. Who else knows?!" Severus growled.
"N-no one!" She answered as she tried to distance herself from him. "I swear it."
Grinning as he looked to her, he nodded and kissed her cheek, “Actually…make it an hour and a half, I have no idea how I’m going to manage with this bloody hand.” he grumbled. “Are you going my way, or are you staying to chat to Poppy?”
"Don’t struggle too much with it. If what you have on is comfortable to put back on, do so. But perhaps a new outfit of the same choice. If you need help, I can…assist," she offered. "I was going to go back to my quarters and find something a little more decent to wear out."
"I may need help with the buttons on my pants…but..I’ll get an elf. It’s okay…really…You don’t need anything, you look beautiful as you are." He told her, wrapping his arm over her shoulder before pressing his lips to her ear. He then looked to her, smiled then turned on his heel and began the walk back to his quarters.
Minerva let out a soft chuckle and called after him, “Use your wand to help with the buttons. You don’t want to damage an elf.” She couldn’t help but to feel better about things, almost forgetting the big problem between them. He was making an effort and doing better already. Whatever was in the potion that helped control his anger, Minerva was glad for it.
Severus held up his hand in acknowledgment and disappeared down the hall. Things were looking up, she had let him kiss her, she’d made the first move to allow him to hold her hand, and she’d accepted his dinner invitation. What could go wrong?
An hour and a half later, Severus paced the entrance hall, wearing a black muggle suit, white shirt and black tie.
Minerva went off to her quarters, showered, and primped as she had almost the same as when their relationship went from friendly to romantic. There was little guilt in her preparation and even less when she slowly descended the main stairs to the entrance hall, dressed in her best muggle attire, a black pencil skirt that stopped just above the knees and loose creme, satin top with an appropriate neckline and clung to her curves, accentuating her swollen breasts and small stomach, and covered by a long, black wool cloak that suited the attired completely.
She smiled at him as she reached the bottom of the stairs and spoke, “You clean up nicely when you want to, Severus.”
Hearing the click of her heels on the stone steps, Severus turned to look and bit his lower lip.as he watched her descend the stairs. She looked beautiful, and once again, Severus felt his heart skip.a beat. Once upon a time he would have dragged her into the nearest alcove and they would have had a quick right there and then, but now, even though he wanted to do.that, he wouldn’t. He needed her to be comfortable, to want to make love to him, to.want him touching.and kissing her. His own desires would have to take a back seat.
"you look…..stunning" he told her in reply. "Absolutely beautiful…."
"Thank you," she replied and sighed softly, taking a moment to reshoulder her purse and get a good look at him.
Had things been better between them, Minerva knew they wouldn’t make it out the castle without a quick distraction. And in some small way, she had expected an offer or him pulling her close by the waist for a deep kiss or more except that wasn’t them anymore. Things had changed so much that it was difficult for her to be unguarded without worry. At least today he had been better than most days.
"I made a reservation at that Italian place you like, and bought us tickets for a show…" he spoke softly, adjusting his tie. "ready to go?"
Minerva nodded and reached to take his good hand, “I’m ready if you are, love. How long do you suppose the show will be?”
Love..she called him love. Severus smirked and held his hand out to her. “couple of hours maybe, why ba-love?”
"I tire easily and I would be too embarrassed of I fell asleep during the show," she admitted with pink patches rising in her cheeks. She had learned from experience how mortifying it is to doze off in a public place, no thanks to Rolanda Hooch.
"well, we will have dinner and see how you feel.afterwards, if you’re tired, we can return to the castle and do a show another night" he told her, chuckling as he noticed her blush. "Minerva Mcgonagall-Snape are you blushing?!" he teased.
Minerva scowled at him and then looked away, "No, I am not! I simply became warmer and my cheeks have flushed because of it."
