does anyone else have a weird way they read the nancy drew game abbreviations? for example, i read GTH (ghost of thornton hall) as 'gith' (like githyanki). i mean, most of the game abbreviations are normal (like DOG, CAP, SAW) but do you guys read the less normal ones as like. a word and not just a few letters thrown together, if that makes sense

Absolutely. Some of them make sense (VEN), some don’t (HAU is “how” to me, I don’t make the rules) and some are sounds I’m pretty sure do not exist in the English language that my brain landed on fifteen years ago and I have been stuck with ever since and do not know how to type out to tell others:

MHM is kiiiind of like muh-hmmm? CLK is not clock or click or cluck but some kind of shortened version of all those three combined? TRN is kind of like tren, TRT is kind of like turrt, except neither of them are those sounds. Etc…

And then STFD and DDI are just acronyms lol. STFD especially sounds like a fire department to me so that’s what it will always be.

the ones I read as noises:

SCK (ssk), MHM (mm hmm), TRT (tert), SHA (shaw), CUR (ker/kur), CLK (culk/clock), TRN (turn/train), CRE (cree), HAU (haw), WAC (wack), TMB (tomb), DED (dead), GTH (goth)

and then this one:

STFD (shut the fuck down) (i dont know why!!)
