My @holmestice piece for @detectivehdbholmes who requested (among other things) some Shekhar Home! The quote is from Rabindranath Tagore’s The Gardener, translated from the original Bengali by the author himself. Tagore's work features prominently in the final episode, but this is set in (spoilers) happier times. Or perhaps I'm...fixing it? Did you watch Shekhar Home when I posted about it last year? You should watch Shekhar Home. It's a “delightful” 2024 Indian series that modernises Holmes in 1990s Bengal!

Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*

Ishmael just sitting at his oar shouting “WHALING IS A PROSOCIAAAAAAAL ACTIVITYYYYYYYYYY” as second mate Stubb tells swimming men they will be eaten by sharks.

Multiple people voting Queequeg in my Middlemarch poll who comment that they have not in fact read Middlemarch but have an inexplicable feeling.... clearly they have a hazy memory of their George Eliot reading as the novel which would of course undoubtedly be improved by Queequeg is The Mill On The Flo----- (i am dragged away)

Wow Marjorie I guess you missed the part of the novel where George Eliot explains the simple, straightforward way to be a good person that works in every possible situation and also consistently meets with social approbation, financial success, political sympathy and romantic fulfilment, as well as 100% lacking any regrets or inner conflict about your decisions, which have disappointed no one! There's definitely an appendix in my edition #cottagemaxxing
