I try not to fall into the "I never liked their work anyway" ditch when an artist/creator reveals themself to be a terrible person
BUT
a feeling I do have and will stand by is "While I enjoyed their work overall I did have some gripes that I overlooked out of affection and whimsy, but now that my loyalty is gone and my affection tainted there is nothing holding me back from enumerating my many grievances, to which the revelations of the creator's shittiness may or may not provide a new and infuriating context."
Is it normal for the World Cup to be hosted by an entire continent? It seems very strange how many cities are affected.
OH MY GOOOOOOOOOD
The quilt!!! The Good Luck quilt !!!! just there on instagram with 60 likes on it!!!!!!!!! oh man i was looking SO HARD. i've started to do a guide to all the good luck symbols that were on it but my quest is basically over!! The edges of it aren't clear, but this is basically everything we DON'T see in the film! oh man, I feel lightheaded.
I need to hit eva stratt with a car [remembers that people might read that as "I want to brutalize a woman for being mean" and not "I want to put Character in a Situation"] hit her with a car lovingly [remembers I do actually sympathize with grace's whole deal and that was pretty fucked] but not too lovingly [remembers about the 4.5 billion people] well unless she'd like it to be more loving [remembers about antarctica and the sahara] wait I probably can't hit her with a car if she's in jail [remembers that I believe in restorative justice] she should be mitigating the harm caused by her actions instead of being in jail [remembers I'm a prison abolitionist] no one should be in jail [remembers what this post was about] I need to hit a jail with a car [remembers I can't drive] I need to hit a jail with a bicycle and also eva stratt is there
I need to hit ryland grace with a car [remembers pure sweet fuck all] why am I on a spaceship with mysteriously well toned muscles
If you can swing it I actually highly recommend the experience of waiting to see a big buzzy movie until it's been out for months and you can get a $5 ticket at the old movie palace to see it on a Tuesday night with a slushy and a bunch of random members of your community who also had their Tuesday night free. I mean I can't particularly claim it's better than going when the movie first comes out, but it's relaxing. And then there are already so many Tumblr posts about it when you get home.

PROJECT HAIL MARY (2026) + trivia
This is a fucking new one
goddamn I think so much about paragraph breaks. I get annoyed when I like everything about what I'm writing except for the physical way I divide those words into sections.
Sometimes the only difference between a sentence being just a sentence versus being a punchline or a gut punch in how you group it with other sentences. Which is cool. However. Also deeply stressful. Like much of writing.
Rolling Homes: Handmade Houses on Wheels by Jane Lidz (1979)
The thing about Richard Silken is that he probably could stand to log off a little bit, but also at a certain point you probably should just stop bothering him. "We kept asking this bear about the gay firefighters from Fox then ABC show called 9-1-1 named after the American emergency response number and not after the terrorist attacks on September 11th 2001 and then it kept mauling people."
i saw this somewhere else but reply / tag what you did today so everyone can see that we all did something different today
last week I was deep in the trenches ploughing through work and mid-afternoon realised I'd neglected to open the blinds and the room was a little dim, so I got up to do that and discovered that a car had flipped onto its roof directly outside my flat and the entire street was closed and flooded with emergency service while they dragged someone out of the vehicle and packed them into an ambulance. so now every time I open the blinds I'm a little like the dog with the ham sandwich bush. what the fuck could it be today.
how did you feel about dinosaurs as a kid?
positive
neutral
negative
this post brought to you by genuine curiosity and no ulterior agenda. i simply realized i didn’t know anyone who wasn’t somewhere on the scale of fucking nuts about dinosaurs and then was like “i bet i know where i can find out how representative something isn’t”
The universe did not want me to achieve this (travel, multiple broken computers, a power outage, website shenanigans) and I kinda goofed it on timing for the actual milestone, but I have achieved a 2,000-day writing streak on 750words.com, which is one of the more ambitious things I've achieved without ever quite having set out to do it. I was startled by how much I missed it when I didn't have my laptop. I take vacations and schedule days off when I won't be online, but living day-to-day without rambling three pages' worth of text at the universe now puts me as off-kilter as missing sleep.
I saw a gifset on here years ago from something I do not know anything else about. A guy, I think it was Jason Segel, driving some kids who were little enough to be in car seats in the back, and one of them asked him, "Dad, when are we going to stop having all these days? And going to bed at night? And then having another day?"
No idea what the source material was or whether it was any good, but I think about it a lot.
