I just have to sing this photo far and wide, I love it so much, even though I haven’t used tumblr for a while! It’s a dream costume for me; I just love the film so much, and cosplay has always been an expression of my love for a movie/game/series. Eiko Ishioka was an incredible costume designer and I hope I’ve managed to bring her design to life a little.

I have one cosplay pet peeve and it’s secret keeping. While I can understand not discussing techniques before a big competition, until you’ve perfect it, or if you’re just not comfortable answering questions or making tutorials, I really can’t abide hiding things simply because of elitism. So I’m 500% down with any movement to be open and supportive of each other.

So while you can ask me about anything cosplay related, my specialities are:

Armor Work: if you’re on my blog you know this is my jam.

Prop Work: my second jam.

Makeup: I’m a professional makeup artist in my real life.

Morale: I’m such a cosplay mom. You’re beautiful, I believe in you, and I will remind you to stay hydrated.

Awareness: you may or may not know my past with con stalking, but anti-harassment is my big cosplay “hill I will die on.” So if you’re dealing with con creepers, bad con anti-harassment policies, or questions about how to get help, I’ve been there and we can do that.

So feel free. My ask box is always open, anon is always on, and you’re never bothering me.

This is a great initiative! What I love so much about cosplay is the community; we should be able to learn from each other and support each other. It’s what makes us great! So anything that encourages that is good in my book. I’m not a super experienced cosplayer but I’m always open to question, be them on a costume I’ve already done (Morrigan’s ball gown from DAI or Daenery’s season 5 outfit) or one I’m in the process of (Vivienne from DAI: Did I mention I love DAI?!) Thanks for reblogging @arkadycosplay, this is awesome.

THINGS ARE HAPPENING ON VIVIENNE’S HENNIN!! It’s been a slow process and a very steep learning curve but it’s starting to look like Vivienne’s iconic head piece :) It may be a bit wonky and lumpy in some places but I love it and that’s what counts! The details are all made from moulded worbla or foam. The hennin itself is the bastard love child of aluminium wire mesh, expanding foam and worbla. And papier mache. And masking tape. This is so beautiful! It looks like it popped right out of the game! The imagery and the geometric shapes are so in keeping with the original concepts, I just love it! I wish I could paint like this :D

Our dragon age inquisition group at labyrinth ball this year! So much fun! My friend made a gorgeous vivienne and I can’t wait to add even more stuff to her costume to make her that much more fabulous! And look at Solas/fen'harel and Dorian getting along! But I totally don’t trust that “innocent” look he’s trying to pull off by the light of my mark (which makes a very good guiding light in the dark it seems). And I really do feel that vivienne would be a compulsive selfie poster hahahha!

Well guys, I’m gonna make this headpiece and I could need some brain-storms about material. Perhaps there’s someone out there who can help me :D

I ordered the 3D-printed wing pieces because I came to the conclusion I could never make these with my own hands. But now I also need the little filigree pieces that go right around the whole headpiece like clock hands. Does anyone of you have an idea what to make them of or where to order something that looks similar? With the wing pieces being pretty accurate to the original, I don’t need the filigree pieces perfectly acurate but I just can’t find anything that looks similar enough. So if there’s someone out there who has an idea what to make them of or stumbled across something that could work as these, I’d be a thousand times thankful :)

It is SO cool that you’re making this - there’s potential for a truly awesome cosplay here! Does anyone with costume/cosplay knowledge have any help/insight to offer?

Ahh amazing! I plan on eventually cosplaying Seraphi too! I love headdresses. I can’t wait to see your progress! My approach would ideally be to make a mold and then cast them because there are 2 designs, 10 of each (although I can’t count how many are behind the centre piece!). But I don’t have much experience with casting and I’m not sure how well it would come out considering how fine the detail is. And of course it presents the challenge of how to make the originals in the first place. Perhaps super sculpy and a lot of patience?! I’ll update you on any more brilliant ideas (!!!) once I have them :P But whatever you use, for your sanity I’d make sure it can be cast to form a negative mold that you can repeatedly cast.
