Nami looked over the brunette before her, taking in her nearly flustered appearance, cheeks rosy with the cold. She drew her thumb away from her mouth, more than relieved she didnât have to explain her odd statement. Thankfully, Romeo and Juliet was a more than popular play.
She focused on the woman again when that word was uttered from her, watching her sit herself next the Nami. She let her mouth fall open around the word.
âLostâŠâ She whispered, considering it quietly. âIn a way, I suppose. Geographically? No, I know Iâm in Harbour Pointe, I know my Apartment building is a few streets away, I know Iâm in the city park.â She closed her mouth again, cocking her head to the side.
âSpiritually⊠perhaps? I can never tell though, how can something be lost that has never been all there?â She asked carefully, shifting her blue gaze to the other. âMentally? Undoubtedly lost there. But thatâs how it is sometimes, isnât it? Minds were made to wander.â Nami snapped her mouth shut suddenly and let herself slip down to seat beside the girl in stead of on the back on the bench, legs still folded up close to her body.
âIâm sorry, Iâm rambling. In most cases, I am okay. How are you?â
Minori blinked her hazel eyes, allowing everything that was said to her slowly sink in. She had definitely not expected such a response, but the smile made itâs way back on her face after a moment of processing.Â
âYou sound like a philosophy student.â she commented, chuckling a little bit as she watched the red head finally join her on the bench. She wasnât sure what to make of her, but she was pretty curious about her now. âIâm relieved that youâre okay, for the most part. Iâm good, apart from the cold!â
She couldnât help herself, she held out a hand to the other girl with a wide smile on her face. Why not introduce herself? She was new in town and could use some more friends.Â
âIâm Minori, by the way. Minori Tachibana. Say, are you actually a philosophy student, by any chance?â
Wrong Place - Minori and Rebecca
âNo need to prove to your mother. If thatâs your motivation youâll want to shift it.â Rebecca replied as the walked down the hall. She looked at the woman just in front of the veterinary office and smiled at her, poking her head gingerly.Â
âProve it to yourself. Thatâs all that matters. If you prove it to your mother, thatâs a nice side effect. But over all, prove it to yourself first and foremost.â Rebecca replied with a smile. She turned to walk into the office and smiled back at her.
âI really wouldnât Now come on, youâve got a job to do right? Go help those animals today. And give me a call when you want to have a chat.â Rebecca replied. At this point she was ready to start sketching everything out, and making new ideas for the office. They mentioned wanting a center piece, and of course for it to blend naturally.
Minori hated to admit it, but she knew Rebecca was right. If all she cared about was showing up her mom, it was all pointless. Still, it was hard for her not to feel the need to show her mother up. She had always been needlessly competitive, even with people who didnât realize they were being competed with.Â
âYa, youâre right.â she nodded her head, a determined smile crossing her face finally as she repeated herself, âYouâre absolutely right! I need to focus on becoming the best veterinarian possible! So I can save the lives of all of the cute animals the city has to offer!â
Clearly pumped up now, Minori grinned to herself and lightly bowed her head to her new friend in a show of respect. âThank you, once again! I wonât forget this! And Iâll send you a text soon, I promise!â
The brunette waved her off before finally turning on her heel and starting for the door. She was going to kick this jobâs butt!Â

First Day - Mino x Rod
minoritachi:
âMe too.âÂ
Especially since he sounded happy about it. That hadnât been her imagination, had it? She wanted to be hopeful, but she also was afraid to be. Above all else, Rod was her friend, and she didnât want to mess that up. And well⊠He was also her boss now, too, as weird as that was going to be to get used to.Â
As Rod showed her around, she listened intently, quite easily going into work mode - which included gushing over every single animal they came across. It was going to take a while to remember a lot of the things around the new workplace, but the names of the animals? No problem. She would remember them. Always.Â
As the tour came to an abrupt end, Minori paused and peered up at him suspiciously. Was he shoo-ing her away because he was planning on skipping lunch? âHeyâŠ. Youâre leaving because you donât want to eat with your subordinate, right? It isnât because youâre planning on not eating, is it?âÂ
The girl had never been good at being subtle, and she didnât hide the skepticism from her voice. If he didnât bring a lunch, she would have to share with him. Not that she had anything fancy prepared, but it was better than nothing. Minori couldnât cook many things, but she knew enough that she at least didnât starve anymore.Â
That tone in her voice was enough to send little chills down his spine, holding a surprised look on his face. âN-No! Iâm p-planning on eating something maybe later?â But then if he admits that part.. Does that mean..?
âB-But that doesnât mean I donât wish to join youâ I mean, Iâd love to honestlyââ Heâs just making matters worse, isnât he? With a heavy defeated sigh, Rod sloughed his lab coat before laying it out on the nearest chair. â⊠I didnât bring lunch today.â Fully admitting his plan, he knew there was no way out of it. But⊠Itâs a good change of pace, instead of running around trying to work off the clock, he could perhaps relax a bit⊠And having Minorin as company made it all the better.Â
âIâll join you next time, I promise.â And the day after tomorrow, and the next.Â
This guy was hopeless... Minori sighed and shook her head, trying to resist the urge to parrot something her mother would say. Instead, she held up a finger, an amused smile breaking on her face.
"Just - wait right here a second, Okay?"
The brunette scampered off to the staff room, probably faster than she should have. She was worried he might try to run away to get out of eating, and that wasn't something she could let happen. She wasn't the healthiest person herself - she ate way too much junk food... but she tried really hard not to skip meals.
Once she'd grabbed her Japanese style bento box - curtosy of obaa-chan, she headed back to his office and set it on his desk in front of him, along with a pair of her own chopsticks. Immediately, she realized what she had just done, though, and she suddenly felt her face flush. He was going to eat her cooking. Well, the only cooked part was the rice and teriyaki chicken. The rest was fruit and vegetables.
"It's uh... nothing fancy, but... Please, help yourself. And uh - I can go, if you want to be left alone, so..."
She hated that she turned into this shy mess around him, but this always seemed to happen. Her hazel eyes darted away as she waited to hear what he wanted her to do. If he wanted to eat alone, she could eat later.
Fluffy Christmas Gifts

Caleb walked into the office early in the morning with two reusable bags containing an assortment of stuffed animals. Because he would be working the night shift again, it was best to leave the gifts as early as possible so they could pick them up by the end of the day. He wasnât close enough to his co-workers to know of their interests, but in general, he knew they liked animals. And so, he chose a stuffed animal based on what he believed his recipient loved the most.
Tied to all of them in ribbon was a note with the words Happy Holidays with a paw print design at the end. He didnât put either of his names on them, but theyâd probably be able to guess who left the stuffed animals regardless.
When Minori spotted the dog plushie with her name on it, she was admittedly a bit surprised. However, as soon as she read the note attached, a smile jumped across her face. She may be the new girl in the office, but it didnât take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.Â
âThanks, Woofio...âÂ
She whispered to herself, knowing the man himself was likely gone already. Despite how surprised she had been by their first meeting, she had to admit that her opinion of him had grown exponentially after actually seeing him work. He was a strange one, for sure, but she couldnât help but like him.Â
Hopefully the gift she left would be at least somewhat to his liking, too. As for her, she gave the stuffed animal a hug before she headed home for the day.Â
Happy Holidays, Sunset!
@ascoltasice , @meekrival , @alittlegentlepaw , @coldandchili , @tomboy-ann , @petrichor-d
Minori had gone around the office on Christmas morning and left a little something for her co-workers. It was hard to know what to buy for people, and considering she had barely spoken to most of them, it was even harder this year than it usually was.
So, Minori had opted on something fairly easy. Everyone received a mug with a different animal in a Santa hat and/or ugly sweater on it, alone with a box of candy cane tea and a Christmas card.Â
Wishing you and yours a happy Christmas and New Year! Thanks for putting up with me! May we all become better friends in 2018!
Yours truly,Â
Minori TachibanaÂ
The only two people that she left out were Rod and Georgia, and that was because they were the whole reason she had come here in the first place. For them, she had something a bit more personal.Â

alittlegentlepaw:
âJust Woofio is fine if you still arenât sure about my abilities as a vet. Iâm sure I look more like a mascot then a professional veterinarian to you, woof.â It wasnât a wrong assumption, considering the costume head was something akin to a mascot. People had trouble taking him seriously until they actually saw him working. Then they at least could agree he was quirky, but very skilled. That was the only way Caleb could justify how he got high reviews from past customers in spite of knowing what they thought of him.
âAnd donât worry about asking me a paw full of questions. I donât mind answering most of them. Besides, your reaction has been a lot better than some of the other vet assistants that werenât told about me ahead of time.â Well, he might as well tell her about this.ââŠIâm sorry to say Miss Minori, you were a victim of a little game the regular night shift staff like to play on new hires like you. That involve me.â
Minori studied the masked face, wishing she could see the face behind the mask, if only to see what kind of facial expression he was making. He definitely seemed sincere, and that was all that mattered to her. As long as he was good with animals, he could dress like a fairy princess for all she cared. âIn that case... How about I agree to call you âdoctorâ as soon as I see what kind of a vet you are. Deal?â she held out her hand again, as if waiting to form a pact with him of sorts (which she kind of was).Â
âHeeeeeh?â Minori frowned as she listened to him, wondering what sorts of things people had said when they first met him. Even if his costume was strange, if he was a good vet, there was no need to be cruel. âWell, Iâm sorry that they keep getting you involved, even if it is meant to be a joke. It must be tough for you to have to keep explaining yourself like this. Especially if you are good at what you do. And well... You must really like animals, if you like to dress up like one....â
Whatever his reasons were, Minori couldnât help but think he must be a good person if he loved animals that much. That and she was sure that Rod wouldnât have allowed a vet to dress that way if he wasnât able to perform properly, so she had to believe he was at least somewhat good at his job.Â
Wrong Place - Minori and Rebecca
âOh hun, I complain about my old designs all the time. They need upgrading.â Rebecca replied with a solid laugh. It was her job to improve on her old designs. Yeah, some of them were great, and even classics, but they needed improvement none the less. There was a constant need and requirement to improve in this industry.
âOh yeah itâs worth it. Doesnât matter your field, go for what you want most. If your goal is to be a vet, be a vet.â Rebecca encouraged. She didnât quite know how much the woman was looking up to her at that point, but she always liked encouraging others to go for their own goals.
Soon enough the elevator opened and Rebecca brought out her sketch pad. They werenât far now, probably moments away from the vet office. Just a turn or two.
âPick my brain? Well I can offer what itâs got. Sure, coffee sounds great. Tell me when youâre free, Iâll schedule around then.â Rebecca replied reaching her free hand into her purse and bringing out a personal card. She handed it to Minori.
It wasnât often Minori had someone encourage her in such a way, and she was honestly moved by the certainty Rebecca had that she could achieve her goals. She had always been driven and competitive, but with her mother discouraging her along the way, it was hard not to have some doubts.Â
âRight?! Iâve worked so hard already... I really really want to be a fully licenced vet someday! And really do everything I can to make the world a better place for animals! I mean... I can do that as a tech, sure, but... I really want to prove to my mother that I can do it!âÂ
It may seem childish to still wish for her motherâs approval, but Minori was still quite young and had much to learn. Still, it felt nice to have someone validate her dreams, and she felt even more pumped about starting her first day now.Â
âYou really wouldnât mind?â Minori had half expected to be turned down, and she was even more enthusiastic as she accepted the card, giving a slight nod of her head as she did so. âWow, thank you! Really, youâve made my day in more ways than one! Youâll have to tell me all about how you reached for your own dream. I look forward to hearing all about it!â

spare-the-rod:
âNo worries at all! Iâm just glad that youâre here.â ⊠He said that out loud didnât he? âW-Weâre always in need of help.â He retracted his hand back to his lab coatâs pocket, letting the stethoscope hang around his neck.
âDonât mind at all! Iâll gladly show you around.â Rod held onto his professional smile, leading the way towards the patient ward. âHere is where we keep all of our over night patients that need extra care through the day. We got a chart that keeps track of everyoneâs TPR. Youâre responsible to give this chart to an Assistant to transfer these records into their actual filesââ And so he went on, explaining each roomâs use, Rod managed to go through the entire hospital just in time for lunch.
âLunch is typically around noon, but⊠Sometimes, thatâs not the case.â Rod is known for not taking his lunch and just powers through the day for the well being of the furry animals. âIâll be in my office if you have any questions, okay? Iâll see you again after lunch.âÂ
âMe too.âÂ
Especially since he sounded happy about it. That hadnât been her imagination, had it? She wanted to be hopeful, but she also was afraid to be. Above all else, Rod was her friend, and she didnât want to mess that up. And well... He was also her boss now, too, as weird as that was going to be to get used to.Â

First Day - Mino x Rod
spare-the-rod:
The least favorite part of this job? Making phone calls⊠Usually, Rod doesnât mind the phone calls and, as a matter of fact, prefers it that way in order to establish that friendly client connection between them⊠But you get those hard headed clients who deviate from the topic and talk about their entire lives.
âY-Yes Mrs. Garcia⊠Iâm so glad Snoopy is doing well and going to all these different places, however an emergency just arrived and I must hang up the phone. Bye! Happy holidays to you too Mrs. GarciaâŠâ Without wasting another minute, Rod placed the phone back and closed the line. âPhew⊠That only took thirty minutes.â A heavy sigh was released, hoping thatâll levitate the stress from his shoulders. However, it wasnât quite the sigh that did the trick, an all too familiar voice did.Â
âMinori!â A smile quickly spread across his face the moment his eyes landed on his dear friend. âIâm so glad youâll be joining us!!â He resisted the urge to greet her with an embrace, seeing as itâs⊠Work time. A handshake will have to do, with a warm smile to add. âIâll be counting on you from now on, okay?â Itâs important for both the Doctor and the Assistant to be in sync in such an environment. Having a second pair of eyes also puts him at ease⊠Specially if itâs Minori.Â
Minori felt her heart beat faster when she saw that familiar smile, but she did her best to act the same as usual. Well, maybe a little more toned down, since this was going to be her new job. She couldnât be too over the top!Â
âThanks for taking me on! Iâm really looking forward to it!â she gave his hand a firm shake, adding, âSorry it took me a bit longer than I expected. I appreciate you holding the job for me.â
Her parents had not made this easy on her, but that wasnât something she figured he would want to hear. Not right now anyway.Â
âCare to show me around, doctor?âÂ
She added the last part with a playful grin.
Merry Christmas! Santa Nina and Minori from Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons, since I was feeling festive. :)
Wrong Place - Minori and Rebecca
âTechnically I am the manager. Iâm the Principle Designer. Iâm the first voice clients hear, the person who checks all the designersâ designs, and the one who manages designer workloads. But I also take on design jobs myself, but most are second nature to me at this point.â The woman seemed excited to jump into the conversation. That excitement was nice, and no doubt would serve her well in her job at the vet office.
âI know the building pretty well. Iâve been there enough to have practically memorized the food plans of the various rooms. Some of the rooms may even have some of my older designs.â Rebecca replied with a laugh. After all, she had worked with tenants and the building owner to make the area more appealing in general.
âPleasure to meet you hun. Iâm sure youâll do perfectly fine here. If you need anything, not related to animal medicine, feel free to come up.â It wasnât long before they were at the elevator and Rebecca called it up to the floor. She walked in and held the door for Minori, and then pressed the floor the vet office was on.
âThatâs so awesome!â Minori was immediately impressed. Her mother had always wanted her to be the type of girl who got married and stayed at home with her family instead of working, but Minori had always wanted to be more like Rebecca; Someone who worked hard and was her own boss. âI donât know much about design, but I have always admired women who work hard to strive toward their goals. It must be a lot of work, but itâs gotta be worth it, right?â
She had a long way to go before she reached her own goal, but meeting other independent women always inspired her. It was nice to have met someone like that so soon after moving. Maybe Rebecca could even be something of a role model to her.Â
âOh, really? I didnât mean to complain about it, but.. Itâs definitely a bit worse for wear these days.â she laughed lightly, hoping her complaints wouldnât come off as offensive. The apartment was definitely fine for her first one, but she hoped to get into something a bit sturdier in the future.Â
âThank you again! Iâd love to pick your brain some more sometime, if thatâs all right.â she chattered on as she entered the elevator, watching what buttons were pushed for future reference. âMaybe we can grab coffee or something sometime?â

alittlegentlepaw:
Oh dear. It was pretty easy to tell Miss Minori was yet another victim of the âdonât tell any newbies about the dog head guyâ game among the staff they seemed to enjoy. Caleb sighed. He might as well clear up her doubts all at once, since her staring implied she wasnât sure what to think of him.
âFirst offâŠyes, I am the vet, and this is not a prank. Second, Iâve had practice wearing this dog head, so it doesnât impede my work. And finally, no, I am not wearing a full fur suit when working even if I do own one.â To elaborate the point, Caleb quickly rolled back the long sleeves of his scrubs to reveal part of his arm.âThatâs a bit excessive.â
And just as quickly as he dropped the Woofio persona to prove his point, Caleb switched back full force. âAs fur my name though, youâŠcan just call me Woofio. And be-fur-e you ask, the dog head stays on when Iâm working, woof. Itâs a personal pawolosophy of mine.â
Minori was still trying to wrap her head around the fact they let a vet walk around in a dog head. She didnât see any reason why heâd keep messing with her, so she decided to believe him, but... It was definitely weird. And he even admitted to owning a full fur suit.Â
Well, whatever. As long as he could do the job, she decided it wasnât her place to judge.Â
âRight... I guess youâd have a hard time working if you wore the full suit, huh? Itâd get really hot, too...â although she guessed kids would really like it. Was he like the vet clinicâs mascot then? She kept having more questions come to mind, but decided to quit harassing him with them.Â
âWoofio...?â she laughed nervously at the continuous flow of puns, once again wondering if this guy was entirely serious. âSo, do I call you âDr.Woofioâ, or what? Sorry, Iâve already asked a lot of questions. Iâm just.. Trying to wrap my head around this.â

So this was Miss Minori Tachibana, the newest vet assistant, if he recalled her name correctly.
And she was currently clinging to the door like a koala after thinking he did something to the vet. Not realizing the vet was indeed him, the dog head veterinarian known only as Woofio to the staff. Judging by what she did, someone forgot to inform her about that little detail ahead of time.
Well, to her credit, her reaction was better than some heâd gotten from new vet assistants in the past. Caleb cleared his throat as he got up from his seat, putting away his belongings before addressing the startled young woman.
âHelloâŠMiss TachibanaâŠI know this sounds pawfully hard to believe, butâŠI am the vet, woof.â He waited a moment before adding,âIâm going to assume by how youâre clinging to the door⊠no one told you about me earlier?â
Minori wasnât sure at first if someone was playing a trick on her or what, and she gaped for a moment as her brain tried to figure this out. Either Chelsea was pulling a really strange prank, or her other boss was at work in a fur suit.
âUhh.... No. I uh... Canât say Georgia mentioned anything about this, no....â she slowly detached herself from the door and came a few steps closer. She still wasnât sure if this was an elaborate prank or not, but she decided she should probably play along for now. âAre you really the vet? How do you do your job dressed in a fur suit exactly? And donât you get super hot in that during the summer? â
She had always thought costumes like this were for strange people at conventions. Seeing one in person was a bit odd, and she couldnât help but stare at him in obvious curiosity.Â
âOh ya, I guess I should properly introduce myself, too.â she finally held out a hand, still not entirely sure what kind of person she was speaking to. âIâm Minori Tachibana. Whatâs your name?â
Celebration! - Mino and Georgia
@belle-of-thebrawl
Minori was practically vibrating with excitement as she went to get her jacket, after her first day at her new job. She just had to wait for Georgia to finish up, and then they could go out and celebrate.Â
She wasnât sure where they were going to go, as she didnât know where anything was yet, but that wasnât really important. She was excited to get out with her best gal pal again. It had taken her a bit longer to get here than she had anticipated, but now that she was here... She honestly felt such a huge sense of relief.Â
Her family hadnât been thrilled about her making this choice, but she was certain she was doing the right thing. Eventually they were likely to come around, right? It was her life, and she was tired of her mother trying to tell her how she should live it.Â
Tying her scarf around her neck, she felt a soft smile cross her face. This was where she wanted to be. And as soon as she saw Georgia heading her way, she was once again reminded of why she was here.Â
âHey! Almost ready to go?â she grinned at her friend eagerly as she swung her messenger bag over her shoulder. âWe can go anywhere you want, since I literally know the location of only three places in this city so far.âÂ

Nami sat on a bench in the park near her home. She never sat normally, always differently, uncomfortable with the ânormal sitting techniqueâ. This time, she sat on the head bar, feet planted against the actual seat part. She was bowed over, elbows on her knees, staring forward with glassy blue eyes.
She wondered what this would be like, had she never come to Harbour Pointe. She wondered when she would leave again, blown away by the wind, as easily as a leaf. She blinked and rubbed her knuckles idly before raising her hand to instead bit the tip of her thumb.
When she focused back in, she saw someone in front of her, glancing her way. She pulled her thumb from her mouth and spoke. âDonât worry, I wasnât biting my thumb at you.â
Minori had never been good at minding her own business, and moving to a new town had done nothing to change that. Shivering in the winter air, she pulled her scarf closer before returning her gloved hands to her pockets. She had never been especially fond of the winter. It sucked even more now that she had to walk back and forth from work more often than not.Â
As she made her way back from work, heading toward her apartment, she decided to cut through the park. If she had to walk outside in the cold, at least this way, she would have some nice scenery to look at.
As she drew closer to home, she noticed someone sitting alone on a nearby bench. The woman wasnât crying or anything, but the look on her face was definitely not a happy one. The brunette found herself walking towards them and pausing in front of her. What was she doing...?
âOh, I didnât think that at all!!â Minori was visibly startled when the stranger started to talk, despite the fact that she was about to speak up herself. She didnât want to be thought of as a complete weirdo. âSorry to disturb you! You just look... A bit lost?âÂ
Minori planted herself next to the girl on the bench, a gentle smile crossing her face. âI donât mean to be nosy, I was just wondering... Are you okay?â
