BLACK SHEEP - GHOST

Everyone is beholden to their own ghosts. For Ramattra, he knows that feeling better than anyone.

It weighs him down and forces him to reminisce, wishing for those days when he didn’t have to hide in gunships and underground safe houses. He thinks of the green fields and white sheep. Of the cool winds blowing from the mountains and the yellow dots of marigolds in simple vases.

A chaotic street, his brothers and sisters strewn about like discarded dolls.

A burning barn caused by the hatred of a man.

A sacrifice made, reverting his friend back into the animal he never wanted to be again.

And Ramattra could do nothing about it. But he was naïve. Weak.

And despite the pain these memories cause him, it gives him the motivation to push on. He’ll not lose another to the malice of humanity, not while he’s standing.

Not again.

Reminiscent

From the very moment Victor Mara saw his father cast a spell, he knew that he wanted to be a Wizard.

Magic was all he knew. Magic was all he cared about. He learned everything he could get his hands on, which led to him being noticed by the prince, and he became the favored mage to be the next king's Royal Wizard. For years, this was his purpose. To protect king and country and to further his country in the arts of magic.

And then came the ritual of Godsfall, and he became his home's enemy.

It was just a simple mistake. A simple mistake! He's no child of chaos, no destined destroyer. He's a child of a renowned noble! But no one listened. Not even his own prince.

And now, countries stand between him and his home. He finds respite and safety in some vagabond country with a questionable ex-mercenary with even more questionable engineering skills.

At least he sticks his nose out of his business and makes a brilliant cup of coffee.

But even though his own country betrayed him, painted him as some pariah, he still looks east, towards where the sun would set, where his home would be. He looks to remind himself that one day he will see those beautiful blue seas and green hills, the towering ivory walls of the castle.

And his prince.

Hello! I love your art! I was wondering if your ocs are part of a story, or do you just like designing them? If it's the first, is there any place one could read/view it? :) (By all means this is an invitation to lore dump if you want to)

I appreciate the compliment! I like to design my OC's but they do have some lore (i’ve made some posts in the past that also had some lore tied to them). I don’t have a place to post more yet but i could start writing more lore stuff when i post illustrations again now that i have more writing chops. I can go into brief detail for them, as their lore is cooking.

Let’s start with Cassius, as that’s been my main focus for the last several month.

I’m writing an OC x Ramattra fanfic, with the OC being a version of Cassius. He used to be a paladin/warlock from DND and just transferred him over to the world of Overwatch with one question in mind: what kind of life would he live if he didn’t have the support of his god?

In His DND version, he was a slave. He made a deal with a sword that housed a trapped god and decided to hunt devils and abberations with the powers given to him. His god was an anchor that gave him the support he needed to pass the trials in life, and became a pseudo father figure for him.

In the overwatch universe, he still has the sword (with some… minor improvements and adjustments since the week i started writing my fic Vendetta got announced. Who would’ve thought they would release a baddie with a sword?) but without the support of his god. I changed it to where the sword itself is alive, but housed an AI within named Kotuluk, which is a being full of malice and hate with a penchant for bloodlust.

By definition, and i’ve stressed it in my writings, it is the devil on Cassius’s shoulder. The devil tempts, never forces anyone to do anything. It tries to use Cassius’s weaknesses and fears against him to kill.

I’ll keep OW!Cassius’s story brief, as it does get touched on in my fic and this is already getting a little long (whoops!)

Cassius was a normal kid. He had a loving father and was pretty bright in his academics. But when his father’s boss sent a kill squad to his house to retrieve a weapon he was working on, Cassius watched as his father tried to protect him and failed, dying in the process. as they were about to shoot Cassius, the boy filled with hatred, malice, and anger, he grabbed the weapon his dad was working on and it came alive in his hands, cutting the kill squad down.

But little did he know that his father was secretly communicating with Overwatch about this weapon he was making. And since there was no way to remove the bond between him and the weapon, Gabriel Reyes recruited him into Blackwatch. he became an effective killer under his command.

I’ll cut it there as i do explore his blackwatch life and post-blackwatch life in my fic, which i do hope will be finished before fall.

Next in line are my two favorite brothers, Jax and Lucius. Also DND characters. Their backstory is currently spotty, but I can give some details about them that haven't changed.

They both grew up to be mercenaries. While Jax’s older brother liked to stay in the shadows to do his work, he likes to tinker and build. His biggest achievement was his gun, the thunderbringer, a magical sniper rifle. But as they got older and the mercenaries started taking clients that represented entire countries, Jax started to notice something off with his brother and grew suspicious of him

And his suspicions were right, as soon after they were done with their latest client's mission there was a mutiny happening in the company. while it is not strange for clients to try and remove their loose ends, it's unheard of a mercenary company to have a sudden mutiny. And to his surprise, his brother is leading the mutiny. Lucius tried to persuade him to join him, but Jax refused, which led to the two fighting. as Jax isn't as great as his brother in close combat, he lost his arm in the process. in a last-ditch effort, he rigged his gun to explode and threw it at Lucius, which gave him severe burns and led to some of his body being replaced with prostheses.

Now, with the last OC I can talk about… Victor’s backstory is in the air. He’s a wizard prodigy who was forced to leave his home country due to a prophecy that painted him as a destroyer of worlds, but that’s about it.

There are other OC's floating around in my computer and tumblr page but i don't really have anything to tell for their story as it's still a bunch of concepts and abstract shapes.

Been busy with school and work. I've also been writing an OW fanfic for the last six months and it finally hit the first draft stage last week.

I have a love/hate relationship with that game, but i always come back when Ramattra gets a sick as fuck skin.

After going through his convos, I will come out and say that he's (unsurprisingly) one of the most interesting of the devils triad, next to Lyon's convos.

I called it early on that he was a coward or something close to it cause- shit, look at his dialogue. Listen to how much of a wet paper towel he gets when he gets downed.

I plan to romance him. I just reset my convos after realizing that I fucked up and got the bad ending for him. but, to me, I feel like that's the right way of doing it. There is SO MUCH MORE to him when you reset his convos.
