*pssss pass it on, Hanukkah is not Jewish Christmas*
Chanukah is a largely unimportant holiday that is as popular as it is because it sits next to Christmas most years. however, the holiday exists because the Jews of Israel (which was controlled by Greece at the time) did everything they could to resist assimilation. the important thing isnât the oil or the menorah; itâs that the Greeks told the Jews that they were not allowed to worship their god, and the Jews refused.
when you call Chanukah âJewish Christmas,â you go against why we have Chanukah in the first place. when you ask Jews if they still celebrate Christmas, while knowing that they are Jewish and observant, you go against why we have Chanukah in the first place. when you claim that Christmas is an American holiday, not a religious one, you go against why we have Chanukah in the first place. when you pity us for not celebrating Christmas, you go against why we have Chanukah in the first place.
Jews do not need Christianity or Christmas to be happy. Jews do not need to be assimilated to be happy. we donât need your pity. we have our own way of doing things that works without yours.
I strongly encourage Christians to reblog this.
Atheist (who worked in a Jewish business and tried to learn a lot) reblogging!
Also atheist. Also reblogging
Fun fact!
Jews are not Jewish because they have a theological belief, but Jews are Jewish because they are Jewish.
Weâre an ethoreligion/ ethoculture / ethnonationality.

I donât hate the concept of ebooks per se but what bothers me is how our society is shifting from actually owning entertainment in tangible forms like books and CDs and DVDs and game discs, to having to download everything so basically weâll get to the point where everything is intangible and all of our property can be taken away by a website crash.
#yeah this is mostly the problem#and stuff like. ebooks that can only be read on one companys app#music that can only be streamed from one place and doesnt let you actually download the files#stuff like that#like sometimes its like you cant tangibly have anything even your own digital file#idk where i was going with this but yeah its capitalism (via @ouidamforeman)

She just did it.
I remember this! And not only that, but she and other runners got Nike to adopt a new policy so athletes wonât be âadversely impacted financially for pregnancyâ for 18 months.Â
She then became the first athlete to be sponsored by Athleta.Â
