it hurts to see how people would see an evil, rude or just generally an irredeemable character and rush to headcanon them as aroace

it doesn't happen that often nowadays (i think..), but that still upsets me.

sure, you can have your headcanons. you can have your reasons for your headcanons. or don't! headcanons don't inherently need any reason.

but this whole mindset that just because a person doesn't fit in an allonormative ideals must mean that they're fully incapable of empathy, kindness or any other kind of love that isn't romantic or sexual is really unsettling.

the same goes for the times when people who perceive aroace people as immature, childish, "innocent" or just simply sex repulsed and being "bored" when it comes to romance. this might not be such a big deal? but it's still weird to me.

this post might seem conflicting with my aroace Adam headcanon, but i swear i have my other reasons (totally not because I'm an aroace person who relates to him.. /hj)

that!! is also the reason why i like the aroace Dave headcanon. he is literally the most selfless guy you'll ever see. which is perfectly realistic! aroace people can be selfless and display affection!

i always like thinking about what was Adam doing before BPS from Evelin's words, she was surprised when he started his investigations and that Adam "always came across as a sceptic", but that's obviously not true. he was interested in alternates (or anything paranormal) long before he joined the BPS. he already knew the alternates could be lured, he knew in which places you need to look for them, he already "had experience" as he mentioned in his email to Sarah. there is just something about Adam, a high schooler who seemed like an ordinary guy with a few friends and even a girlfriend. who might have had hobbies or skills, but they were likely just a way to briefly distract himself or a cover to help him fit in a society. or perhaps they were things essential to his primary "interest", the one he so carefully concealed from everyone else to the point where even his girlfriend didn't suspect a thing. because he knew no one would understand his obsession with the paranormal. because he didn't fully understand it himself yet. what was his first investigation like? did he plan everything out in advance, or was it a spontaneous decision? was he afraid? afraid of the alternates, or of the possibility that someone would find out and then he would have some serious problems? regardless of what it was like, he continued. he couldn't get enough even though he knew how dangerous it is and how uncanny it would look like to others. what was his initial reaction to Sarah’s video about her club? he sounded slightly indifferent, yet he wanted Sarah to reply to him. he said it "sounds pretty cool," but he had already made plans regarding that club ("we can make this club something bigger"). did he even plan to find that club or other people interested in it? he wasn't going to hide such an important part of himself for his entire life, was he?

sharing my tmc headcanons almost at the end of pride month because im a loser

thought about librafem ruth only recently and oh my god. because i was thinking about thatcher and how he doesn't seem like cis to me in any way and then i realised that ruth DOESN'T EITHER?? like omg how could i look at her before and think that she's anyhow cis

for other alternates/non human creatures i think they would be non binary (or agender) and aroace

One of the many parallels between Adam and Thatcher that i like is not only do some of their experiences are similar, but their whole arcs are somewhat alike.

They both lost someone dear to them (Lynn with Adam; Ruth with Thatcher) because of something paranormal (alternate's influence) which happened on the same day. 17 years later, they still can't move on from this.

Why? Not only because this experience was very painful for them, but because they were constantly reminded by that ("God" talking to Adam; Ruth's alternate living in Thatcher's home). So how could they possibly move on from that?

Which leads to them becoming obsessed with everything paranormal as an attempt to cope with their trauma and find out what actually happened/have their revenge. They both tried to avoid their emotions by socialising/working/etc, but their mental state didn't get any better.

So they started their investigations (Adam joining the BPS; Thatcher recovering footage of VHS tapes with Dave).

They often act selfishly and treat people around them pretty shitty. Their behaviour gets criticized sometimes (quote: "I wish we have never looked for your mother, Because she is dead and gone. And we were never going to bring her back" & "What the hell has gotten into you? I don't give a shit about the footage until you sort yourself out!" both said to Adam by Jonah and Sarah; "You need to learn how to accept things you can't change. From 17 years ago, might i add" said to Thatcher by Dave), but both Adam and Thatcher mostly ignore this.

They both become isolated (Adam being antisocial; Thatcher hiding) as a result of everything happening to them. And because of their behaviour, they lose more people around them (Adam losing Jonah; Thatcher losing Dave) and become even more isolated. They both get introduced at almost the same time (Thatcher made appearances before vol 333 but got a proper characterization only in vol 333).

The conclusion (at least for Adam's arc) of their arc is something i would also like to talk about that, but i need to think about it more so it would be for an another post.

While i was writing this, i realised how bad my vocabulary actually is.. idk if i can post it in tumblr, it seems like something too obvious to analyse or point out but whatever,,
