Ox winked at Joe from his spot behind the groom. The sun made his skin like bronze and shined off the curls of his dark hair. He was so unspeakably handsome in his tailored suit that brought out the breadth of his shoulders and adorned his figure deliciously. But most of all Ox’s brown eyes were the prettiest in the sun. Like deep honey. Joe always appreciated him in his beauty but now he was starstruck.

Her long manicured nails clicked on the hardwood. “But Big Mama doesn’t take no for an answer. I have ways of getting the answer I want.” “Why you—!” Leon lunged forward, teeth bared and a wild glint in his eyes. He could barely get his butt off the seat before the two bellhops grabbed him on each shoulder and threw him back into the chair. Mikey was pale, Donnie felt his heart plummeting in his chest. She meant this world’s Raph, Leon’s Raph, not his own five-foot nothing brother, right? Donnie, selfishly, wanted to hope it was this Raphael Hamato, not his Raphael Hamato. But she certainly knew about them, her eyes flickered to both of them to probably gauge their reactions. Whichever Raph she had in her hands, with the way Leon reacted, it sounded bad.

Splinter was in the pit and far away from them one moment, the next he was nearly nose to nose with Leo, a firmness set to his jaw and his eyes narrowed to study him. “You are not blue.” Leo took a step back, pressed his arms to his sides, and bowed deeply. “Master Splinter, I am not your Leonardo, but I come from another dimension. I am a version of your son, also by the name of Hamato Leonardo, son of Hamato Yoshi, who goes by Splinter these days. We’ve been taking care of your sons since they fell into our dimension.”

“Gardening, maybe?” Leo wondered peeking into one of the sacks. “Nah, dude. Vampires need their own native soil when they leave. It keeps them healthy and, in the worse scenario if they’re hurt, the soil can help heal them,” Mikey said around a mouthful of jellybean and Nutella pancakes. Leo sat back. A rock sat heavy in his gut. They had been planning on leaving New York completely. Hopefully somewhere close, like hunkering down in the Northampton farmhouse, or just to the outskirts of Jersey. Away from people, at the very least. He had wondered why they ran away, kept running from them. They hurt themselves trying to escape from their own family. The dirt meant they really wanted to leave everything and everyone behind.

I took it apart.” Donnie perked up. “Wanna get started when we get back, Donatello?” “Of course, Donatello.”

“They’ll be good at hunting us for sport once it happens. Confident they can find and stake us,” Raph joked. “They’d have to use a lot of force and more than a wooden stake to properly pierce our hearts. They’d have to crack the plastrons first. And being pushed out into the sunlight and burning alive sounds awful. Did you know that the only thing more painful than childbirth is burning alive?” “Decapitation. Swift and clean. We won’t even see it coming if they do it executioner style.” Raph swung his arm, pretending to lob a head off shoulders with an axe. “Come out! We know you’re still in here!” April shouted. “I can sense you!” Donnie and Raph winced. “I don’t think they’ll let us die. We should have Karai send some professional vampire hunters after us and not leave the work and trauma to our brothers,” Donnie suggested. “Final request?” Raph suggested, jerking his head to the doorway. From the shadows, Donnie’s eyes glinted with something unnaturally bright and shining, his eyes looking more like fresh blood than ever, burning with an inhuman glow. They were the eyes of a hunter.

They bled red. Despite everything, the double mutation Donnie had gone through, and Raph being turned into plant matter, on top of both of them being bitten by vampires. It was an odd comfort.

The full name made Donnie freeze. “I was a fledgling for a couple of nights, give or take. I don’t remember most of it, just some brief moments and feelings, but I can feel how it’s taking over me. It’s just like when we were bit initially but slowed down by a billion.” --- The unfortunate side effect of vampirism crossing with mutant blood. Raph and Donnie do their best on their own.

“Yame!” Splinter slammed his cane down on the floor, the ring echoing through the cement walls and floors. Everyone snapped their mouths shut. Mikey bit back a grin at seeing his brothers scolded. Splinter looked tired.

His mouth was set in a grim line, but there was undeniably a spark in his dark eyes Leo understood all too well. He was, despite the incoming danger and the fact they were still in boiling water, relieved. And, no matter all the crap he’d heard about the other him from his brothers, he knew that this Leonardo was still a Leo to his core with this one look. Leo trusted him. “Only if you think you can handle it,” Leo said cheekily, squeezing his hand before releasing it.

The breath filled Leo with that little zap of mystic energy he didn’t realize he had been missing until now. Inhale, exhale. A tandem drum as three more breaths filled his chest, three hands touched his, three brothers reaching for him. He reached back, felt the heat of Mikey’s, the strength of Raph’s, the power of Donnie’s. He pulled them close to his chest and cupped them in his hands, holding his brothers for the first time in what felt like centuries. Inhale, exhale. Ninpo flooded his veins, igniting his core with that cackling energy he so dearly missed. He felt his brothers’ calls, the moment they all collided into each other is when the marks in his skin flared bright and the sudden pulse of energy sent a whirlwind of power whipping through his small cell. He could distantly hear someone pounding on metal, shouts that were lost to the burst of energy that was suddenly far too small for this dingy cell. His brothers’ chatter filled his chest, not clear words, but flashes of images and ideas. In a moment, he knew exactly where he needed to be.

Donnie played back the footage where the drone caught sight of its approaching murderer, zoomed in where it had squared off the invader to analyze them. Green skin, yellow and red markings, a blue mask. His stupid tongue poking out from his beak as he aimed the ninja star at the drone. “That stupid dum-dum! I was using that to find you!” Raph is still going to be here. But he needed to go get Leo now before he lost track of him. The drones tracker still worked, a little purple dot on the map that was being moved from where it fell and to the rooftop of the training center. Donnie turned to go back down the sewer and get to the nearest manhole and find his stupid brother. The barrel point of half a dozen Kraang blasters found his face.

He saw worms in a jar, bloated, maggot-like things and the threat that hung over his head that eventually, they’ll force one through his eye socket and he’ll have no choice but to listen to them. That terrified him more than the prospect of double mutating into something sinister. Leo needed to get out. If not for the sake of his health and autonomy, but the fact he was going to smash his head through the wall just to do something. His ADHD was driving him literally insane, and he could only make up so many games, do so many push ups, sing through so many musicals and pop rock albums before he started chewing through the iron bars. Three days. It had only been three days and he was plotting his Jupiter Jim Lou Jitsu universe crossover just to pass time.

For a moment he was suspended, the yellow-orange spots on his skin glowing bright like beacons and Leo swore he could see his wide eyes glowing. It was like in slow motion as he spun to face Red, lifted his arms, and with a shout a dozen chains materialized seemingly from the ceiling. With a swift, downward strike of his arms, they launched down in a cutting path to Red’s massive form.
