what i really like about Simon is how he feels like a metaphor for being "gifted" and neurodivergent. (In my experience)

Thinking about Cha Euijae being stuck in the West Sea Rift and despite the horrors and trauma and fight for survival, his body stays the same.

There are no scars from the battles with monsters. Ever the highest S rank, barely anything marks him. There are no physical reminders of the war he waged, alone and desperate. No gouges or burns or tears or broken bones or evidence of anything he's done.

There's no signs of fatigue or malnutrition. This is a space with no passage of time. Bodies do not decay or rot. His S Rank body does not suffer deterioration no matter how fatigued he feels, no matter how many days, weeks, years, he goes with light sleep, no matter how little to nothing he eats. Even when it feels like he's starving, even when he is starving.

He doesn't age, he doesn't grow taller or thinner, or have wrinkles or sores. His hair stays the same length and he never grows a beard. His body stays the same. Perpetually stuck in a form that suits more for the him before the West Sea Rift rather than the him that endured and survived that hell.

The only thing that changed, the only difference between the J from before and the J now is the whitening hair. The mutation that shows not that he beat every monster in that Rift, but that he's now become one.

genuinely irked by the person who referred to zukka as yaoislop like the backbone of this ship are 60k+ slowburn fics that feature intense exploration of each characters' complex trauma and how that impacts their ability to form and maintain relationships, profound character studies and brutally realistic healing journeys, and love stories enshrouded with sokka and zuko (especially zuko) reckoning with the sociopolitical context of the world they live in and the nation they were born of.

He hasn’t been civilised in 4 years, his entire teenage experience consists of living on a boat and sleeping rough. The most stable bed he has was probably in Ba Sing Se he probably will just nap anywhere.

He has customer service experience which means he probably uses his customer service voice on his minsters.

Additionally he probably just wanders into to kitchen to get his own snacks and tea because he forgets what servants do.

He probably has no idea why he can’t just chase after an assassin he used to hunt the avatar for Agnis sake why is the captain of the guard demanding he stay in his room he’ll find the guy first (he’s probably right)

Katara probably has a free pass on Eco terrorism because what’s he going to do challenge her, she’ll beat his ass.

If he saw a minster doing something shady he will either invite lady Beifong to detect their BS or commit B&E and look for evidence himself.

He somehow found a baby dragon and raises it.

He will be far to willing to give Kyoshi island anything they want cause he feels bad and Suki scares him.

He randomly insisted on giving some earth kingdom village 100 ostrich horses.

The Avatar will just show up call him Hotman and demand the go on adventures and the Firelord will just dip because he’s been confined to long and has the Zoomies.

He takes far to much advice from Sokka and will genuinely believe if someone doesn’t get Sokkas plans they must be an idiot because Sokka is 16.

Sokka and Zuko also get into a lot of teenage rebellion phases by accident.

Toph just walks in breaks a wall of his palace and demands a field trip that always involves the Firelord having to explain himself to the cops.

He somehow knows every dangerous teen in the world and they all come for tea uninvited.

He has broken into both the NWT and Ba Sing Se.

He has a really well documented facial scar and official portraits but still disappears to be Lee the tea guy like no one knows.

The funniest part about the zukka stuff is that we never expected anything to be canon. It’s basically been like 20 years since the original show. They killed Sokka in Korra, so like we’ve all just been playing with our dolls, having fun, with no worries about the canon material, and then boom, here’s free cake, you weird little guys, because there was a leak. That leak just came with free yaoi subtext that you didn’t even want or need. Truly it’s great but also we’re all freaking out cause no one expected them to give us anything never mind free cake.

I, so deeply, appreciate them re-introducing mythomagic like this (cause I forgot that it was already introduced in S1) because it really shows that these guys are not playing (pun intended lol). They’re creating each season, each episode, keeping upcoming plot lines in mind. And they’re doing it in such a gorgeous and nuanced way because now, it all just means so much MORE.

And it’s not just with this. They’re filling the show with foreshadowing that’s so purposeful for whats coming in the future. They’ve increasing the significance of the blade, something the books definitely had but not like this. The way they’re positioning it, is going to make what’s coming a lot worse to watch.

Even the small little inputs like the magazine with Hunters of Artemis or the FUCKING CAR!?!?

And the characters… the way they’ve bettered Tyson and Clarisse needs to admired very aggressively!!

I just love that the entire team cares about the stories as much as we do.
