Genuine question — why do people hate on F so much? I don't pay attention to him at all so I'm just curious.

a lot of it originates from the concois shippers because people think that they're only his fans. also because he seemed to be enjoying the rumors. and tbh it did benefit him a lot in regards to image.
along with this he's made some comments that are not so awesome. mainly reducing heated rivalry to softcore prn and saying its mainly for women. also joking about a shane/ilya/scott threesome. and i believe just generally thinking of himself as a lead of the show.
gonna be honest, i hate most of his fans more than him. i also think we can't blame exclusively his fans because there a lot that are connor fans as well. and many that are not fans but fetishisers or just...weird.
my opinion of him is that he doesn't know his footing as an actor and because of that he tries to ride rbe wave of fame with whatever it takes. hes also aware that hes older in an industry that prizes youth. he made some weird ass comments that come from being a white man ima be fr.

2) Tierney, Reid and even Williams himself made jokes of similar tones or worse but no one hates them because they’re not rumoured to be with Connor Storrie
3) The journalist started the threesome/foursome joke, he only ever spoke of Skip in terms of ideas for s2
4) He doesn’t think of himself as a lead you just pulled that out of your ass
5) His fans are merely defending an innocent man from you lunatics and your bullshit
