Things are worse than theyâve ever been. To say youâre overwhelmed is putting it lightly. Youâre good at putting on a mask of a tough personality in front of your friends. They sympathize with you but ultimately they donât know how deeply your emotions run and theyâre all too glad to move onto their own, sometimes hurtfully benign, issues. Like how some up-and-coming pirate crew is currently docking at your islandâs harbor. Who cares?
You donât know how youâre supposed to function any longer. The most menial tasks become massive hurdles to overcome and youâd like to just lay down and pray for things to sort themselves out without any need for your participation.
It would have been a nice night. The sky is clear, the stars shine down on your miserable existence as you throw some stones out at the sea in front of you, getting irrationally sad at the stones not bouncing the way you want them to. Not angry â you donât have enough energy left to be angry, not anymore.
You flinch when a noise startles you out of your contemplation. Somebody flicking their lighter, somewhere behind your back.
âA beautiful woman like yourself ought not to be left alone on a night like this.â
Itâs not a voice you recognize. The voice is dark, warm, quiet. Itâs a nice voice, but conversation seems to require energy you donât have right now, so you donât react. Maybe if you ignore the voice heâll just disappear from whence he came.
He doesnât. Instead you see from the corner from your eye how a well-dressed blond man sits down on the grass beside you, keeping a respectable distance between the two of you. He smokes quietly, saying no more for a few minutes.
Despite your general apathy, you find yourself weary. Is this another person seeking to prey on your vulnerability? But what will you do if it is? You canât be expected to tackle yet another issue. Itâs just not possible.
But he remains quiet. Just smokes by your side, not looking your way from what you can see without turning your head.
Your thoughts return to yourself as you let the stranger be a stranger.
The passing of time seems irrelevant to you so you canât tell how much time has passed until he speaks again. âIf there is anything, anything at all you need. Do not hesitate to say so, please. I canât bear to see anyone suffer like you are.â
For some reason, hearing that makes you angry. An anger you couldnât muster when casting stones, but who is he to want to meddle in your affairs? To presume the extent of your suffering like so? âThanks, but no thanks.â, you mutter.
âI understand.â, he replies casually in a neutral tone. You hear the fabric of his suit rustle as he gets up and leaves.
Huh. Oh well, he likely just wanted to get into your pants either way. Good riddance. Your heart aches for the kind of stranger you wish for â somebody who could somehow lessen your burdens while having no ill intent towards you whatsoever.
The next afternoon, you visit the same stretch of shore. Thereâs something calming in the thought of the waves washing onto the shore not knowing who you are and continuing in their monotony no matter what happens with you moving forward.Â
A scent hits your nose. Something delectable that absolutely has no place by the shoreline.Â
A small package is set down on the grass in front of you. âHere. I hope it be will be to your taste.âÂ
The hand that put the box down retreats. Itâs a nice hand, soft and refined, nearly aristocratic in nature. The voice is the same as the one youâd heard yesterday. Tonight, you look up.Â
What you find is a tall man, as well-dressed as he was yesterday, looking down at you with an inscrutable expression, smoking yet another cigarette.Â
You scrutinize him, looking him up and down, before peaking into the box. Itâs a rich assortment of food in small contained compartments. Itâs basically a buffet in lunch box form.Â
âWhy? Why would you make this for me?â, you canât help but ask.Â
The man shrugs faintly, looking out onto the waves. âBecause everyone deserves a positive nudge and food is an essential for feeling well in the first place.âÂ
âHuh. Guess youâre right.â You pick up the sticks neatly put in a designated area of the lunchbox and start eating. Itâs beyond delicious, to the point where you consider the physical lunchbox unworthy of its ingredients.Â
âYou made this?â, you mumble with a full mouth.Â
Now his lips twitch upwards into a flash of a smirk, but itâs gone as quickly as it appeared again. âYeah. Iâm likely the greatest chef youâll ever meet.âÂ
You canât help but react to that as you snort into your newly acquired lunchbox. âVery humble. A âhumble bragâ or whatever people call that.âÂ
Another faint smirk which disappears quickly again. âHumility isnât a strong suit of mine. But I could make an exception for someone as lovely as you.âÂ
You huff, furrowing your brows. âAre you trying to get into my pants by making me food?â You regret the open words the second they leave your mouth, which is still stuffed full with the delicious buffet that this kind stranger has prepared for you.Â
He looks quite hurt, but that impression disappears quickly again too. âSure. If getting into your pants means filling your stomach with my foodâŚâ The line lands flat and he shrugs it off with an awkward smile. But it dissolves the tension your accusation had immediately brought up and you appreciate it for that.Â
âThatâs a new way of doing it for sure.â, you mumble, a little embarrassed. âThanks for the food.âÂ
âItâs my pleasure.â, he states simply.Â
Heâs about to add something else when a loud and infectiously happy voice suddenly shouts âSAAAAAAANJIIII!!! IâM HUNGRY, MAKE SOME FOOD!!â
From the distance you see a number of figures standing atop a pirate vessel, one of them waving almost desperately with an arm that looks too long to possibly still be human.Â
The kind chef - Sanji, apparently - sighs in mock-defeat and flashes you a small smile. âBusiness calls, it seems. Iâm glad I got to meet you.âÂ
He indicates a polite bow, then takes his leave. Youâre left with an amazing lunchbox, a growing confusion at this man apparently being a kind pirate (what a juxtaposition!) and a growing interest in lifeâs daily matters, even if theyâre just about figuring out who this is and why he would help you like so.Â
"I need comfort, and pronto!" - Chapter 5 - Chopper (request)
Link to AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/82878206/chapters/232109516
Youâve been pretty good at hiding your distraught emotional state from your fellow crew members â with the exception of one. Chopper had recently acquired and read a book about human mental health (surprisingly quite different from reindeer mental health, heâd been astonished to learn just how unnecessarily complicated humans could be!) and so he had not only picked up on the signs early, but also devised a plan immediately.
And so one day when youâre about to climb into the Thousand Sunnyâs watch tower, youâre held back by Chopperâs voice calling out to you.
âHey! Can you come to my office with me for a moment? I need to do a check-up with you.â
You turn your head, calling back to him about how youâre actually on night watch right now, but he shakes his head in reply. âI already talked to Usopp, heâll take over for you. Thereâs something important I need to talk to you about as your doctor.â
With a queasy feeling settling in your gut, you descend and follow Chopper to his office. Once inside he puts on a white lab coat (likely to look more professional, even if it just ends up looking cute to you) and gestures for you to sit down on the cot.
âI think youâve been struggling with mental health.â, he announces in a steadfast voice, meeting your eyes, searching them for confirmation.
You look at him in surprise but nod faintly, too embarrassed to voice your issues out loud even with a trusted crewmate (who wouldnât pick his nose mid-conversation like your captain might).
âSo, I only just read one book on it, I need to read like way more. But from what I read I know itâs very important that you understand you can come to me at any time and ventilate. No, that wasnât the wordâŚâ, Chopper trails off, scratching his antlers as he tries to remember.
âYou usually use the word âventâ.â, you offer helpfully.
Chopperâs eyes light up. âOh yeah! That was it. But yes, the book said not to put any pressure on you, but that you can totally come to me or any other member of the crew about your issues. Though I wanted to warn you about that a little too⌠not all of our crewmates might be able to help! But I should be able to, being a doctor⌠even if not a trained psychologist⌠hehâŚâ Chopper trails off, seemingly losing confidence in his abilities as he speaks.
You reach out and take his tiny hoof into your larger hand. âI appreciate you wanting to help. That matters a lot already. Iâm guessing this wasnât part of your training with Doctor Kureha?â
Chopper drags his hat over his eyes a little, mumbling embarrassedly about how of course he wants to help, heâs a doctor after all. Then he pushes his hat back up and nods thoughtfully. âWe only briefly touched upon it, there was so much she had to teach me in so little time and thereâs so much to learn in the medical field⌠itâs one part of my training that I have no experience with yet as well.â Chopper sighs, clearly feeling like heâs lacking a key component in being a good doctor.
âThatâs fine. I can be your test subject.â, you smile reassuringly, even if youâre a little uncomfortable with the idea of your issues being used for practise â but youâd happily help Chopper with his training if thatâs what it took.
âNo! No, no, no. Iâm going to do my best to help, but youâre not a test subject! Youâre my⌠youâre my⌠crewmateâŚâ
As Chopper is struggling to get the words out, you have a creeping suspicion you realize what he might be so averse to saying. You remember what Sanji and Nami had told you about how Chopper had come to join the crew and what difficulties heâd had in not being seen as a monster.
âFriend. Thatâs the way youâre looking for, doctor.â You call him by his title teasingly, knowing how proud he is of being one.
Chopper nearly falls off his chair in astonishment, then hides behind it quite ineffectively. âIâm not a friend! Iâm aâŚ!â, he trails off, suddenly realizing what heâs saying.
You chuckle and keep teasing him jovially. âMaybe youâve got a bit of mental health stuff to uncover yourself right there, doctor. Iâd be happy to help in any and all ways possible. Come to my doctorâs office any time.â You stick out your tongue at him.
The poor reindeer looks even more flustered than before. âStop teasing me! I just wanna help!â
Your face mellows as you crouch down to be at the same level as him. âI know. I really do appreciate that. But despite how wonderful of a doctor you areâŚâ, you ignore how heâs blushing and waving his arms like an idiot while insulting you under his breath, â⌠that doesnât mean you have no troubles of your own. I know that we can all come to you for help at any time, but you need to realize that we are just as happy to help you in return. Even if, like you said, not all our crewmates might be able to help properly.â
Chopper takes a little while to stop being flustered before he finally sighs and calms down. âOkay! Then weâll do âreverse therapyâ. Weâll do double sessions where first I help you and then you help me! The book didnât say that was an option, but we can just invent it!â
You grin at him, giving him a high five. âItâll become known as the Doctor Chopper super-method!â
âYou big idiot! I wouldnât like that at all!â, Chopper flusters yet again.
âWhatâs super?â, says Franky, poking his ridiculously large neck into Chopperâs office from the door.
Itâs so hard to have any privacy on this ship! But then again, thatâs exactly part of what makes you feel so comfortable being part of the Strawhat Pirates. You may be experiencing issues, but youâre not alone and every single one of your friends would drag you back from hell if you asked them to⌠even if asking wasnât the easiest thing to manage. But with Chopperâs attentiveness, maybe youâd finally find the strength to do so.

They're so beautiful. I kept overthinking the identity of who's behind these masterworks and kept wishing I could give them something nice back in return, but I've no idea who it might be!! So, dear anonymous master artist, if you read this, you're amazing!!! Thank you so very, very much from the bottom of my heart!!!
I assume that this Kidd/Cora one is probably from the same person who asked about my thoughts on Kidd/Cora!
I love that Cora-san is immediately picking up on anything he perceives to be heart-shaped, hehehe! Kidd's sweating bullets under all that scrutiny!! :D Since Cora is a bit taller than Kidd, the doo-dag on his headband might look even more like a heart from the perspective above!
The style works so wonderfully in their favour, I love it. The little red accents are really swaying me on this Kidd/Cora ship!!
And now to address this absolute elephant of beauty in the room. How anyone can make such stunning drawings on a strawpage drawing board, I will never know.
The colours are so incredibly pleasant to look at, I love how his hair is rather muted while the coat is the vibrant red, rather opposite to how he's usually portrayed!! The yellow highlights in the hairstrands are a wonderful off-set colour and I really love the way you shaded the goggles, I'm going to have to take notes and learn from you right here!!
It's funny how I've drawn Kidd so very many times, yet have never drawn him anything even remotely like this, but such is the pleasure of different art styles!
I really love the way you've drawn the eyes. Both the immediate dark eyeliner (if that's what that makeup is called) and then the smeared grey around it, looks so good, and then the highlighting and shading within the eyes gives such a layer of depth, I love it!!
Thank you so very much again. This is going to become my new wallpaper everywhere, replacing the Penguin (gimmick) which had most recently occupied that spot!! ^-^ (But no worries dear Penguin artist, they're all on a rotation!! No art love and gifts are ever forgotten!!)
Wait oh my god, I only just realized, Kidd is crying????? Who hurt my beloved baby boy??? Has it anything to do with his blush?! The possibility of his return?? Him appearing here as a strawpage gift is a clear sign by the (strawpage) gods that his return in chapter 1179 is imminent, that's for sure. I don't make the rules. But why is he crying?! Is it because Law's been taking a higher spot on the One Piece World Voting than he is?! Are these tears of anger?! I will do my best to get you to the top, beloved Kidd!! You can count on me!!
Oh wow!! Another stunning drawing already?? You're totally spoiling me!!
And this time we have an absolutely beautiful rendition of Law, I love him!! That cute blush with the expression of "no I'm not blushing screw you", the little sweat drop running down his face, he's so great!!
There's so much to talk about here, hehe.
A)! I love that you included some hair strands underneath the hat on Law's forehead. I always want to do that while drawing him but I'm so conflicted about it because it's not his cannon look and I tend to mess it up every time, but you've shown me the way in which it can be done while looking handsomely messy, hehe!! So cool!!
B)! German Law!!! Hell yeah!!! No offense to Germans, but I do stereotypically picture them as very stuck-up and positively obsessed with rules (or in Law's case, plans!), so Law being a German dork is so perfect in my books. That said, I wonder if he'd only curse in private? I could totally see him as the obnoxious guy running around with a swear jar that everybody has to put berri into if they end up swearing XD
C)! Dinosaur egg!! For one, I love dinosaurs, so hell yeah! This might very well be the explanation for why Law's hat is so extremely large and bulbous despite his head really not being that big, I mean it messes with his whole head shape, right? A dinosaur hatching up there explains it all perfectly!!
D)! Who's that little cat guy?? We have two pieces of evidence that point towards Dofunyan (pink coat, fufufu) but also there are round ears at the top and a black triangular stripe down the middle of the head that are oddly reminiscent of Onigiri. Am I just seeing Onigiri everywhere because it's who I want to see? Possibly. But also, maybe Doflamingo made a cat out of string and merged his cat's design with Onigiri's!!! We can't know for sure!!!
E)! Thank you so very much again!! There is no joy like opening up the strawpage and seeing that there's a gimmick. Funnily enough this Law didn't even show up as a notification, he's so embarassed with his blushing that he tried to scoot by unnoticed. Hah! Fat chance! You shall not escape my notice, you silly, beautiful surgeon man!!
Baby Rosi with his bangs is already such an adorable heart-stealer, the blush, the shy but proud smile as he presents his flower, letting LoveyBug do the talking for him.
I love the heart replacing the i dot as well, it fits extra perfectly with Rosinante!!
Baby Doffy not wanting to be forgotten with his distressed eyebrows is so sweet. He doesn't want Rosi to take all the spotlight (and canvas!!) away from him, his affection and flower are just as (if not even more!!) important!!
I hope you've been having a wonderful easter as well and that you've been able to spend some lovely days!! Thank you so very much for this cute surprise!!
I've been worrying about sick pets for the past few days so turning my PC on and being greeted by this gimmick was such a wonderful and happy surprise that I totally started crying out of happiness. I'm a total crybaby when it comes to these gifts, heehee!! Thank you so much again!!
What a wonderfully sweet drawing, thank you so much :D
I love that LoveyBug is wearing a strawhat with a bow, hehe. It reminds me a little of the tomodachi life strawhat which does come with this kind of bow - I should dress my tomodachi LoveyBug in one, right now she's wearing rabbit ears (to make up for the fact that I don't have antennae yet).
They look so adorably happy and like they might be enjoying a wonderful day at the beach, it makes me so happy to see these two sillies hanging out and having a good time together.
Thank you so, so much for this lovely gift! Please make sure not to overheat yourself, especially if you happen to be a polar bear mink!!!
I couldnât make it in time for motherâs day but here is a quick redraw of last yearâs Momquixote piece because I thought I could improve it a little đЎđŚŠâ¤ď¸âđĽ
Calling out to all Kidd Pirates fans with a proposal!
If we all unite our voting power on Kid, we can make it to top 15 and get an eyecatcher featuring not only him, but the entire crew - including Killer, Heat, Wire, Quincy and everyone else!
